We had the good fortune of experiencing Adam & Albin a few
We had the good fortune of experiencing Adam & Albin a few weeks ago. Simply Spectacular! It was a one-of-the-kind experience. Sitting at the counter really added to the night as Albin offered personal attention. Jonna, Julia, Anton, and the whole staff were terrific. The entree's were the perfect balance of flavor, presentation, and creativity. So many unique elements. We can't wait to return. A+++

Seriously, Adam & Albin make magic on a plate. The staff are always at 'awesome level', & a shout-out to Anton who always makes our visits that extra bit of fun.Go. Often.

We had really high expectations here since we heard only good things about this place. The atmosphere and the welcome was amazing! We had really good service all night. We choose the green menu, where we had five courses and you had two options for every course. We decided to try one of each with every course so we could try as many courses as possible. The food was really creative and beautiful. Unfortunately it didn't match our high expectations. It was ok, but not wow.The last dish we had that all of the parties was served as something extra was the best of them all. A very delicious chocolate cake.
Be the first to ReplyWhat an absolutely fabulous night spent with the Adam/Albin
What an absolutely fabulous night spent with the Adam/Albin team. Everything was perfection. We were seated promptly and, what I thought were seats that wouldn't afford us a connection with the kitchen, turned out to be the best of all seats...right next to the wine cooler. I could go on and on about each individual dish and presentation, but suffice to say...they were all lovely on the eyes and delicious in the mouth. Anton was our waiter and he, along with the rest of the wait staff are trained sommeliers. Bonus. I hope to come back soon to Stockholm and will make sure that trip includes at night at Adam/Albin. We were so happy we ate here.

This place serves eye candy--visually intricate pieces of art--that fall flat on the palate. Their favorite, over-powering flavors utilized in a 5-course prix fixe: salt, dill, furikake, horseradish cream. Example: white asparagus topped with salmon roe, and a drizzling of horseradish cream, served on a block of packed, crushed ice. The sweet and subtle flavors of the white asparagus were overwhelmed by the saltiness of the roe, and completely masked by the punch of the horseradish cream. While the flavors flopped, the textures in this dish were intriguing--crispness of the cold, white asparagus, and the smooth salmon roe. Another unusual "dish" component was part of the "snack," a reduced, creamy chicken broth that basically tasted like salt; not sure the point of that. I did enjoy the caramelized onion take on the tart tatin, but it's hardly complicated to assemble a little shallot on puff pastry. For vegetarians, there are vegetable options offered for each course. One of the dishes was cauliflower, literally, steamed cauliflower. Couldn't think to roast it with a slight char? Or cook it to a smooth cream? Nope. It was hard, crunchy, under-seasoned, steamed cauliflower. The "cherry" dessert was incredibly underwhelming: a bowl filled with halves of seemingly water-downed cherries in a bland liquid that had notes of fresh mint. Yeah, definitely cherries.I waited a month to write this review to let my disappointment of this place diffuse (dined here in Mid-June 2018). I'm still completely unsure how it has been highly rated and recommended in the NYT or Michelin, because the food leaves much to be desired, as if the chefs lack understanding of flavors and complexity and are instead focused wholly on aesthetic. The service was unpleasant and underwhelming. Unfortunately, time did not mellow out these sentiments.

With much of Stockholm's best dining closed on Mondays it was to Adam/Albin that two guests turned for dinner, a place some trusted sources had suggested might deserve a Michelin Star proving thoroughly average throughout a protracted period of nearly three hours.Located at Rådmansgatan 16 and offered as two differing experiences, a "Blue Menu" Tasting putting diners at the whim of two Chefs working side-by-side in a partially open kitchen while the "Green Menu" trends Prix-Fixe, it was stepping around bar stools that diners were seated in a teensy two-top surrounded in greenery, one glass of Wine starting things off and a cup containing one bite of Radish in earthy Cream arriving soon thereafter as a "welcoming gift."Debating options and eventually deciding on the Green Menu with differing plates at each course, the night's Bread and Butter arriving warm and herbal with a good chew, it was in Asian flavors that two more bites arrived at intervals of teen minutes, the Rice Tea with strategically placed Petals to be taken "one per sip" mostly salty while iced Asparagus in an Emulsion of Mustard and Roe was over-the-top Umami but not especially delicious.More 'trendy' than other Stockholm Restaurants at its price-point, the music too loud and lighting 'just so,' one of the night's best bites was next presented by way of Onions in Puff Pastry plus the sweetness of Apples while first courses were pleasant but unmemorable whether one selected local Tomatoes beneath a veil of Avocado or Pork with King Crab that got muddled and lost in potent Ginger Sauce. Not so much a "bad" meal as one lacking refinement, second courses of Garlic Mushrooms and "crusty" Jerusalem Artichokes both one-note with the former lacking any real flavor beneath its hefty aroma, it was heartening that a main plates of Pike stood out amongst many seen throughout Sweden thanks to smoky Cream that played well of Morels though the cooked Cauliflower again tasted one dimensional thanks to an overabundance of Citrus.Improving a bit with Dessert, a lengthy delay seeing interest wane further, it was with both diners presented two plates that a choose-your-own-adventure finale was underway, the bowl of Cherries best taken bite-for-bite with the floral Sundae while tender Rhubarb was best in a single spoonful with Rosemary Ice Cream, though the best bite of the night may just have been a buttery laminated Crisp that accompanied the check.

I was invited to dinner here by a colleague. They have a cooking school and a restaurant and it's located away from the city center on a quiet street. The restaurant is fairly small but cosy and casual. The staff here make the place and they really make you feel welcome and make you feel like you are at someone's home. It's the best service I have had in a long time. The menu is build your own based on 5 courses and you get a choice of three dishes for each course. They also have a daily special and you order this on top of your 5 courses. The dishes are modern Scandinavian blended with European and Asian flavours. The food here was delicious and I loved every bit of it. A couple of the courses could have used a tiny bit more seasoning but the rest was perfect. I licked my plate clean :-) The staff here really made the place. Our waitress was charming in a very Scandinavian sort of way and very engaging and warm. We had two or three staff come to us at different times and they were all very friendly and made recommendations for wine and food and digestives. I would come here in a heartbeat. It's excellent food, excellent service and a well balanced wine list. It's not often you find restaurants of this caliber and I loved it.

This place is amazing! I came for dinner which is completely different than the lunch which has a ramen menu. The dinner menu has a chef's selection or a la carte and is for true foodies! Most options were seafood yet pricing was reasonable considering. The best dining experience I've had in Stockholm hands down.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and perfect service.
A bit bitter end due to that we had to leave the table in a hurry due to we ran out of time
Be the first to ReplyYet another gastropub.
Ambitiously prepared food without surprises or crescendos. A bit too self-important for my taste.

Adam/Albin has been recently remodeled and relaunched as a fine dining restaurant featuring modern takes on Swedish classics. The menu is a 5-course, fixed price and an incredible culinary adventure! I booked this restaurant based on a mention in The Hollywood Reporter. This was the last nite of a 2-week tour and cruise of the Baltic region. What a treasure and curtain call e to an extraordinary vacation! I can't recall the name of each dish but each was extraordinary, original and perfectly executed. Definitely worth the $$$ and a good bottle of wine. Enjoy!
