Absolutely a must dine place for DTLA! The views alone are worth it but each plate was carefully crafted and prepared. Fabulous experience!

Beautiful view excellent service!! Our three course meals was a great experience. Romantic place!
Be the first to ReplyPhenomenal dining experience.
Piece of advice: Book your table early, about a month in advance. Great hospitality from the staff, as they were very respectful throughout the night.Great food and menu system. I was here for around 2.5 - 3 hours, so plan accordingly. For parking, I parked at the Citi Tower, and it came out to ~$2071 Above is a once in a lifetime experience. There's great views of DTLA and the ambiance is spectacular.

Been here many times for birthdays and anniversary but this night was awful. 3/17 B-day dinner. Service bad, forgot bread (we paid for) seating in the back and food no flavor. Server is bad, mentioned on reservation wife's B-day and when checked in but nothing. $500 for horrible service, seat no view and dinner with no taste.

We came here on a Saturday night, without reservations, for some drinks and were not disappointed. Everything tasted great and the view is amazing. Next time we have to try out some of their dishes, but would highly recommend checking out this spot.
Be the first to ReplyI made reservations for a birthday dinner for a party of 3.
We were seated at a large table for 6 directly in front of the kitchen, which was not a pleasant seating area. It was noisy, very busy, and overall distracting. Our service was not great considering the price of dinner and the fact it was a celebration. Our server Jay introduced himself however, never came back to check on us. The birthday girl's order was wrong and to my surprise an 18% gratuity was imposed for doing absolutely nothing. What incentive does he have to be attentive if his tip is already guaranteed. I will not go back considering LA area has so much more to offer. To credit, the view was amazing.
Be the first to ReplyAmbiance and service was amazing.
It was a great experience. You would expect the food to be amazing, considering it's a set dinner course. But I have tried better else where! Guess you're more paying for the view. Wish the view/ambiance/service matched the food
Be the first to ReplyThe food has amazing taste.
Our server was the nicest. It's a very classy, romantic, quiet place. The view is very beautiful. Overall if you have the money, I would recommend trying the place. The server even gave us extra wine on the house for free!

This was an exceptional fine dining experience I had! 71 Above is one of the only few skyscraper restaurants in LA, and there are breathtaking panoramic views of the city. Getting a window table was not an easy task, but I was luckily able to after a reservation was canceled. 71 above serves a 3-course meal, and since there were two of us, I was able to try 6 items on their menu. Please make sure to make a reservation before coming! Here's what I ordered:Crispy Octopus - While crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, the octopus was tender and perfectly cooked. This appetizer had an assortment of bold flavors and textures, and it was a great start to our meal.Handkerchief Pasta - Presented with a sheet of pasta, this pasta was perfectly cooked over a bed of mushroom, brown butter, pine nut, parmigiano- reggiano, and lemon. The brown butter sauce was rich and creamy, while the mushrooms gave the dish bold, umami flavors. Heritage Pork - The pork was juicy and cooked to perfection. It was served with a gorgeously charred rhubarb, kale, and turnip over a savory jus. This was my favorite dish of the night.Grilled Ribeye - The ribeye was very tender and cooked medium-rare (just the way a proper steak should be!). Everything on the dish went well together with the charred broccolini, fried shallots, date puree, macadamia, and jus. My only comment is that the dish was a bit too salty for my taste. Strawberries & Cream - This dessert was an exceptional and refreshing palate cleanser. It had a beautiful balance of textures coming from the airiness of the strawberry meringue, tart rhubarb, crunchy almond sable, and soft buttermilk panna cotta. Hazelnut Opera - I'm a sucker for chocolate, and this dessert drew me in. There were a lot of elements to this dessert, including the rich opera cake, the sweet chocolate, and the creamy vanilla bean ice cream. I only wish I could have more of it.I had such an incredible experience at 71 Above. From the stunning views to the delicious meal, I cannot recommend this restaurant enough for a date night or special occasion.Follow for more on my IG: @DineWithAng :)

My wife and I came here on a date night and we were blown away. The view is amazing and it helps that the windows in the restaurant were clean so you could actually enjoy it. My wife and I had the 3 course tasting menu but we ordered an extra side so it was 3.5 courses each. The food was really good. My most memorable bite was the Octopus, which I highly recommend. I was also impressed with the wine list (not the most extensive I've ever seen, but I really like Riesling and they had a bottle I coveted). The service was absolutely on point. At every stage we were greeted and felt welcomed. I walked to the bathroom and passed it, and someone personally walked me to it to be sure I has located it (instead of just verbally telling me). They staff was attentive without being overbearing. Truly money well spent, and I can't wait to do it again.

i know this place might be a little trite and gimmicky, but i rather enjoyed the food. was visiting family in the area and i wanted to take them to a nice restaurant with decent ambience and this hit the mark. the food is a seasonal pre-fixe menu, with interesting dishes. the ambience is nice inside, not too gaudy, and the space is quite large. we came for dinner while the sun was still up and that was a good choice -- we were able to watch the sunset by the time we were on our entrees. there's valet available, and you have to take 2 separate elevators to the top; they provide detailed instructions when you tell the front desk you are here for the restaurant. (September 2021) the amuse bouche we started with was a yellow tomato gazpacho, quite refreshing. i had the octopus for app, tender and delicious, my dinner mates had the grilled avo with uni (good!) and the tuna tartare in a passionfruit sauce (also good!). the steak was cooked perfectly to our liking with a side of broccolini and served with a demiglace tableside -- presentation was nice and the steak very flavorful. i got the seared salmon with fennel and a creamy sauce; i really enjoyed it, i'm a sucker for fish + fennel any day. i opted for the cheese course as my dessert; it came with 3 cheese, some spiced marcona almonds, fruit paste (i forget what kind), honey, and some crostini. my dinner mates had the chocolate cake with ice cream (very good and indulgent) and the olive oil cake with strawberries (very light and refreshing). i would definitely consider this place again for, like, a nice dinner, esp for out of town guests who can take in the view.
Be the first to ReplyReally pains me to write this review.
I used to love this place but this place really lost the sparkle of what it once were. I've visited this restaurant every year since 2015 for various special occasions. The chef did change when I visited during COVID and other than the main entrรฉe, the food was very mediocre. The wagyu was really good if you are willing to pay extra $65. The desert was so bland it absolutely tasted like nothing although it was decorated really pretty. The caviar is really nice, again, only if you are willing to pay extra $71.The thing about 71 Above that made it very special was the fine dining experience but the servers and staff's etiquette is BEYOND HORRENDOUS. It was something you'd expect at a $ restaurant and not at a $$$$ restaurant. When the food is served, usually the server explains the food and then puts it down on the table but this lady just kept yelling so it was hard to comprehend. On top of that she had a very thick accent so it was even harder to hear coupled with yelling. She also had to stop mid sentences because she did not remember the details of the food she was serving. The staff who cleans dinnerware and preps new dinnerware and utensils were bit aggressive making clanking noises and not caring about cleanliness of the table between each course. Overall very disappointed. It was never like this during my previous visits. ย As someone who spent nearly $2k for a meal (don't judge it was a whole family occasion), I was expecting a nice calm evening with some wine and wagyu. Instead, it just became a chaotic night to remember.
Be the first to ReplyI feel like the windows need to be cleaned.
I know that must be hard 71 floors up. Incredible views but dirty windows.. Enjoyed the food. The Host in the lobby could have been more welcoming as she is the first encounter for our dining experience.
Be the first to Reply3-course options Prix fixe menu.
ย For larger appetites, you can tack on dishes at an additional charge. ย Request a window side table, afterall that's one of the reasons why your meal is priced accordingly. ย Spectacular views.

Came here to celebrate my hubby's 43rd birthday and it was everything we could've expected & more! This restaurant was perfect for this occasion. Parking inside the U.S Bank building is $10 for 3 hours (make sure you get it validated by the restaurant). You go to the main lobby where you will check in and from there, it becomes a little adventure! Allow yourself 15 minutes from parking to actually arriving inside the restaurant. Once you've checked in, it takes two special-access elevators to get to 71 Above. The views were stunning and breathtaking! We asked for a window seat ahead of time (1 month) and we were seated right in front of the sunset. We got seats next to each other but didn't mind. I think you can request a table where you're facing each other (but it's not guaranteed). To start, we had a few drinks. Bummed I don't remember the names but they were delicious! We opted for the 3-course meal and we thoroughly enjoyed it! For the 3-course meal, these are the food items we ordered: Bread service ($7 per person) 1st course:Crispy octopusHandkerchief pasta 2nd course:A5+ Japanese Wagyu (extra $65)Grilled prime rib3rd course: Hazelnut Opera Strawberries & CreamThis is a great Date Night restaurant, also good for groups and very upscale/elegant! We enjoyed our night here and the staff was super attentive.

This was an expensive night with wine pairings and bread service however it was well worth it. I'd recommend you go all out while you're here. The three course meal is a great way to simplify options but to make sure quality stays high. I enjoyed the farmers salad, rib eye, and strawberry and cream dessert. The dessert was especially nice as I've never tasted anything like that before. It was delicious and I'd recommend you smell it before you eat it. Nelson the manager was very nice and was able to help me out on a special request. The view is simply marvelous.
Be the first to ReplyThis was definitely an experience.
Service was great and they have valet which is amazing here in dtla! The food was very delicious with a lot of fresh and interesting ingredients. The interior was very nice and modern with a classy twist but the best thing has to be the view! It's AMAZING! You can see everything from Dodger stadium to all surrounding cities with beautiful dtla views.
Be the first to ReplyHorrible experience.
I made a reservation 3 months in advance for my wife's birthday to be seated next to a walk in front of a pillar. The view from one seat was non-existent. The view from the other seat was not impressive. You'd think for a restaurant known for its stellar views and experience would be able to accommodate a party of 2 with a reservation made 3 months in advance with a nice view. Nope. Not only that, but the effort from the staff to accommodate was nonexistent. You would imagine that in the industry of clientele service, a high end restaurant as such would at the least make the slightest effort to provide a high end experience. But on the contrary, they stood firm and basically told us to kick rocks.

Amazing food! Everythibg there was delivious and the environment was amazing. Please be sure to follow the dress code! Men wear pants! They gave us an amazing seat and it overlooked the whole dining area and LA. Amazing place, the staff and manager are very nice and professional too.
