Workshop Kitchen & Bar Palm Springs Reviews from The Last Year
My partner and I attempted to have dinner here tonight.
It's one of my go to restaurants when in PS. I drove in to surprise him while he's in the area for business. The restaurant was scheduled to close at 10 pm. I checked the available reservations prior to us driving over to find out that the restaurant had closed its kitchen at 8:30 pm. Oddly, there were many people sitting who had not yet eaten. However, according to Chloe, the manager on duty, he decided to close the kitchen early because there were no scheduled seatings after 8:30 pm. We arrived at 9:15 pm. Sure. Additional oddity is that Chloe first insinuated that he was one of the owners, but then clarified after being questioned that he's one of the managers. Further, as we walked away, the severs were just bringing out food to a large party sitting in the courtyard. But we were told the kitchen had been closed since 8:30 pm. Hmmm. If you're looking for reliability, this clearly isn't the establishment. I advised my partner to inform staff to no longer recommend the restaurant to guests at the hotel. Who wants to send people to a restaurant that has inconsistent hours?
We had heard of Workshop from a few guests at our hotel
We had heard of Workshop from a few guests at our hotel raving about it, so we had to try it out. Ambiance is hitting 5/5 in every way possible. Both indoor and outdoors are incredible. Super classy and elegant. Service was good, a little slow. Had to hunt down our waiter throughout the night. Food was decent, 3/5. We ordered the Dry-Aged Wagyu steak for 2-people. It was good, but not $190 good. Cocktails were incredible, can't complain there. We got a few rounds and were really impressed by the bartenders. Overall, it was an experience! I think if we had tried other menu items, perhaps we would have had a different opinion on the food.
Service was ok.
For a Michelin they seemed very lax and not super knowledgeable. It was just very different but like I liked it. The ambiance was gorgeous. Obviously a must see. Communal dining was great on that long gorgeous table. They have a walk up bar large patio seating in the beautiful weather and also other tables inside. Reminds of prison cells in a way but like inviting and intriguing. The food was gross lol Sadly I'd never go back The desert is not known for (fresh) food. Apparently palm springs is known for their dates yum and they're citrus fruits But the salad we ate tasted like a Costco bagged salad that they added a little bit of freshly chopped dates and Gorgonzola to... and lacked dressing and flavor. And the other salad my friend said it was like eating grapefruit from a can or from a dole cup . Something wasn't right. e The gnocchi was vomit ( the waiter was right on that..)tried to get us to get the tried rice but we wanted pasta ish dish... it was more mushroom ( gross oyster mushrooms ) with a spoon full of gnocchi I hate to rate this place less than a 3 cuz the drinks were decent.l and its beautiful but yea the food was def a 1 eek
The food was really good.
Mushroom risotto was delicious. The steak au poivre was good with Carrots and potato side. Shaved Brussel sprouts with blue cheese was delicious. Healthy serving.
A popping place -- modern industrial interior, fantastic
A popping place -- modern industrial interior, fantastic outdoor patio for group dinner or date night. Overall, I don't understand why this place has poor ratings. The food was great, servers were fantastic, and great ambiance Food: Octopus Carpaccio (4/5): super delicate, but the green sauce was SO SO SALTY omg it almost tasted bitter haha -- enjoyed it so much more without the sauce Pork belly fried rice (5/5): yumyum! Definitely recommend. Loved the slight kick of the pickled chilis and the dish was really fragrant. A heavy started imo and can definitely be shared with ~3 people Oster mushrooms, chicken fried (5/5): i think my favorite dish of the night -- soo crispy and loved the spiced honey drizzle. Not vegan but i imagine this is as close to fried chicken (both taste and texture) you could get. The bread is super soft, like a brioche, although a little bit too charred for my liking. Conehead Cabbage (4/5): honestly super yummy, juicy, fantastic with the pita. Iberico pork chop (4/5): soo juicy and the marination was sweet and tangy, the rhubarb chutney pairs nicely with the pork, and the hazelnut mashed potatoes were divine Blood orange sorbet (5/5): light and refreshing, like im drinking blood orange juice :) P.S we definitely over ordered and were stuffed afterwards. Party of 2, would definitely cut at least 1 dish.
My goodness what a special place.
Expensive but worth it. The sea bass special for two was so good. They offer outdoor seating which we appreciated as we're COVID safe. Sever was wonderful and super friendly. Can't wait to go back
I attempted to schedule a birthday event for a friend, but
I attempted to schedule a birthday event for a friend, but after seven days of trying to get through to someone, I was informed that they couldn't accommodate us. Despite my request for phone communication, they claimed to have responded by email within 24 hours--a message I never received. I reached out multiple times via emails, phone calls, and even Instagram. The lack of concern and apology from one of my previously favorite Palm Springs restaurants has significantly changed my opinion of them. Why apologize? There was availability when I called, they ignored me for 6 days, and then after observing me do communication-acrobatics, they left me scrambling for another venue. I'm not important. I may not be a critic or influencer, but as a loyal customer, I expected better engagement, and I genuinely tried to make this work.
Great food, service and love the outdoor patio.
Am a repeat customer, many times over.

We had an early Saturday night dinner at Workshop and thought both the food and the service were fantastic. Our waiter was Dave and he was super knowledgeable and super helpful - I have Celiac's so need to eat gluten free and he knew exactly what dishes to recommend and which could be modified, which we really appreciated. We had the Brussels sprout salad, risotto, scallops, and lemon curd dessert and everything was delicious. Definitely recommend and thanks to Dave!
Both good and service were excellent.
Portions were pretty big. We ordered 3 appetizers and a pizza to share and it was more than enough for two girls.
Lived in Palm Springs for 15 years though this was my first
Lived in Palm Springs for 15 years though this was my first time here. The little outdoor courtyard was nice once it got dark, while the inside was noisy and way too industrial (might be just fine when it's 120 outside though). The food was OK, but compared to other restaurants with the same pretentions in the Coachella Valley, the prices here were out of whack to both the creativity of the dishes and the proportions received. Maybe they were especially busy plus understaffed on our visit, but our waiter spent as little time as possible with us, with little hints that our mission was to order quickly and a lot, then get out to free up the table. A glass of wine that was ordered with our waiter when the food came didn't reach the table until everyone was finished eating (and not even a mumbled apology for the delay). There was some surprise from our waiter when each of us didn't order appetizers to go along with our mains, but at $22 to $25 per app, it seemed to be unnecessary when a flat iron steak was about $50. Turned out we were wrong. The sizes of the mains were modest at best, and most in our party were still hungry when we got home. Look, this is a pricy Westside or Downtown L.A. restaurant in every way, shape, and form. If that's what you are looking for during your trip to the desert, you'll be quite happy here. But for our group, the experience was definitely lacking. And what's with the thick leather welder aprons for the bussers and waiters? I can't imagine how horrible it would be to work there come June through September when the staff are sweltering under all of that material. If the boss is forced to wear it as well and stand outside with the crew during the summer, OK, but otherwise it's probably an OSHA violation. Nick in Palm Springs
Awesome Food
This was an awesome experience...we want to come back. The food was perfekt, the cocktails tasty. The location is stylish.
Had an outstanding dinner at workshop kitchen.
The architecture in this place is totally out of the desert but fits right In. We were greeted promptly and our orders from our drinks to plates were all brought out in perfect timing. Our server was very helpful in mentioning the lamb in the kefta was local from near idyllwild. Everything here was beyond fresh and you could really notice that everything is farm to table. The scallops were heavenly and melted in my mouth especially with the accompanying sauce- The beets were also delicate and full of flavor. Overall your taste buds will be unlocking or revisiting many flavorful combinations here that will have you back before you know it.
This place is ok.
Expensive. Our waiter walked away from the table because one of the 8 people at our table was talking across the table. That was by far the oddest exchange I've had sitting at a business dinner. There are many great restaurants in town and this is just average. Good was ok.
Pretentious and overpriced
Overpriced and pretentious. Why? The portions are miniscule and the flavours for a michelin restaurant are not up to scratch. My tiny piece of steak was over peppered and served with a tiny portion of vegetables. My gnocchi starter lacked depth of flavour and the wow factor. The wine was over priced - the mark-up must be obsecne. What added to the poor experience was the staff seemed to have the attitude that the customers were lucky to be there. The wrong attitude for a restaurant looking to give an exemplary experience (well according to the prices). We were left on the kerb waiting for our table as the previous guests had turned up late, there were no seats at the bar and the bar next door where we were sent was also full. The restaurant did not seem to care about that - after all we were fortunate to be paying the restaurant to eat. I was also overcharged for two extra main courses we did not order and did not receive. This is a true "see you coming establishment".
A Palm Springs gem with incredible service!
We held a corporate dinner at Workshop and it was perfect! Hayley, our Events Manager made the whole thing so easy and was so communicative through the entire planning phase into the execution. Our servers, Matthew and Levy were professional, funny and handled our large party with ease. The food and drinks were fantastic and adhered to our many dietary restrictions (the cauliflower was my fave!). I will definitely return when in Palm Springs again. Thank you Workshop team!!
Lovely setting.
We arrived a little early and sat at the bar. The drinks were well made. We had a great dinner, our server was lovely. The food was delicious. We especially enjoyed their pork chop. Really this is a very nice spot to come to for dinner. It's a relaxed vibe and quite pretty at night
Soooooo Overpriced!!!!
Ambiance, interior decor, service and food pleasant. Relative to ALL factors in a good restaurant the management sees it appropriate to offend the consumer with their pricing. Portions--miniscule.
Delicious food outweighed by horrid service.
I wish I could give this restaurant 5 stars based on the food but our experience was simply awful. Everyone in our party loved their meal. Two entrees cooked improperly were replaced. Dessert was ordered but never arrived. Wait staff was pleasant but inattentive.
This e-mail was sent to Workshop Kitchen PS on Monday, Mar
This e-mail was sent to Workshop Kitchen PS on Monday, Mar 25 at 2pm and I have not had any response from them. I am going to the emergency room today as the sore spot on the back of my head is not getting better and is still very tender. I think you need to know about their customer service and how they care for their customers... Hello...last night I was at your restaurant for the first time. We were booked for the Communal Table down the middle of the restaurant. We had the last two seats closest to the bar. I have a bad back and asked if I could have a chair with a back instead of the stool. The hostess was coming to move the stool out and I took a step to the side to get out of her way and literally fell off the edge of the floor and down three steps and rammed my head into the chair at the single table in front of the bar. NO one pointed out the steps to us so we would know they were there. When I moved out of the way for the hostess to pull out the stool I was not looking in the direction of the steps (and I also did not see them). The first step (as you know) is literally at the edge of the end of the table. Several people came and helped me up and asked me if I was alright. They offered to bring me ice for my head. I was very shaken up and very sore all over. My head has a very tender spot where I hit it very hard and I have a very deep bruise on the side of my bottom and one of my knees and upper thigh. I opted for no ice because I already made such a spectacle and was very embarrassed. Not sure why I was because it was not something I did on my own. It was because of your steps which are a hazard being right on the edge of the table. NO one alerted me they were there and to be careful. Thankfully we were not charged for our dinner. I could not even eat all of mine or enjoy it because I was still shaking and my body hurt all over and the tender spot on my head hurt very bad. I am not sure who the manager was but I am assuming he was the guy in a suit. He came over once and asked me if I was okay. NO one apologized about the steps. If the guy was the manager, when we left he did not even acknowledge me as we walked by him and he did not ask me how I was doing or once again apologize. I am surprised no one asked me for my details so that you could follow up with me today. Those steps are beautiful but they are a HUGE hazard and you need to do something about it! You also need to train your people on how to handle this type of situation. I am going to leave a honest review on all the websites like Yelp, Trip Advisor, Resy, Open Table, etc. I really feel like I should hear from your owners on how you are going to handle these situations in the future and what you are going to do about those steps to make sure what happened to me does not happen to someone else.

This restaurant was beautiful and I enjoyed sitting on the patio. The bread service and appetizers of ricotta gnocchi and Brussels sprouts were good, but each person in my party was disappointed by their main. They flavor and finesse, which was very disappointing given the high prices. We all left food behind, which we hate to do.
At first glance the restaurant is beautiful, we sat down
At first glance the restaurant is beautiful, we sat down anticipating a great meal as the interior and appearance was on point. We ordered the beets which were decent but plated so sloppily, so first plate not overly impressed. The duck we ordered which we were told is served medium rare, came out over cooked, dry and lacking flavour- very disappointing. The scallops were a treat, Cooked perfectly with some great flavours. We went with the special, napoleon style pizza- huge disappointment as it was a stretch from anything close to napoleon. We ordered the apple tart desert which was also disappointing, came out cold, dry with a scoop of ice cream that we didn't even finish. To top it off we were also handed our bill before we even started the desert, we wanted to order more cocktails but at that point we just cut our losses and left. Overall a disappointing experience , the M80 cocktail was delicious though but besides the decor - the highlights were few and far between.
This is the most beautiful restaurant that I have ever
This is the most beautiful restaurant that I have ever eaten in. Absolutely gorgeous. A group of us ordered several small plates, red lentil soup, shaved brussels sprouts, and lamb kefta. All of them were amazing. Really first rate, of the highest quality. For the main course we decided to splurge and ordered the dry-aged masami ranch ribeye. It was cooked perfectly, but we were disappointed that the veal reduction the ribeye was covered with was cold, not room temperature, cold. Service was a bit hit or miss. Never had our water glasses refilled, for instance
Very bad, careless customer service I've eve seen.
There was half empty restaurant when we came and almost the same when we stepped out. Food was just ok. I recommend it to no one. There are so many places with better food and better stuff.
The Only Wow are the Prices
We were told that Workshop is one of the best restaurants in Palm Springs. If that’s the case, it doesn’t say much for the Palm Springs restaurant scene. The food and service were good, but hardly great. Frankly the only thing we’re were “wowed” by are the prices. In my opinion I found it very expensive for what it is.
Norma Saved The Night
Our experience was five stars primarily due to our server Norma, we absolutely LOVED her. My wife had a salad for her appetizer which was large and flavorful and I had the Fried Rice that was outstanding although a fairly small serving. Our dinners diverged here, my wife's salmon was a full portion that you would expect at a restaurant (it wasn't large, but it was acceptable. The same can not be same about my serving of duck which was 3-4 ounces for $46.00, it was good but certainly not worth what they charged. Fortunately I was able to eat the rest of my wife's salmon or else I would have walked hungry and that shouldn't happen with prices like these. Would I go back, probably not.
Maybe the best restaurant in Palm Springs...period
We haven't eaten at every restaurant in Palm Springs but this may just be the best one of all. Every dish here is both creative and unbelievably scrumptious. We started with their fresh baked sourdough bread and truffle butter, which was awesome. Then we moved to the Lamb Kefta small dish/appetizer which was like something we have never had before. It was two perfectly seasoned lamb kebabs in home baked pita with shaved fennel salad and a great mint pomegranate sauce that was simply to die for...it honestly was that good. I had the seared duck breast, which was as good as any duck breast I have ever had (and I've had a lot of them); and my dining partner had the mushroom risotto, which we both agreed was awesome. The vanilla bean ice cream was a perfect finish and the Tempranillo/Rioja wine was the perfect accompaniment for all of it. In fact, we will probably order some of that wine from Vivino, it was that good. If you are a foodie and in Palm Springs, you would be doing yourself a disservice not to have at least one dinner here.
Unimpressed
For all the pomp & circumstance it was still just a pork chop. Maybe I should have tried something else.
Excellent Dining Experience in downtown Palm Springs, CA
Excellent drinks, appetizers, salads, and main courses. Our server, David, was a top-shelf professional. The pizza was perfect, and the scallops dish was perfect. The only negative was a 4 percent surcharge on the bill for credit card usage. (the only restaurant that did this).
Overpriced and mediocre restaurant.
We had heard and read a great deal about this restaurant. It had been recommended to us by Audleys travel. Have travelled the world and eaten in some exceptional restaurants, this definitely was a major disappointment. To start we were seated at a "communal table" on stools without a back rest. A very disappointing start to what we were expecting as a outstanding experience. It was far from that. The menu selection left a lot to be desired and my wife and I both had difficulty in selecting anything we really wanted to eat. We eventually settled on a mushroom risotto and the Steak au poivre. The risotto was pretty tasty but at $37 it is pretty expensive. My steak was nicely cooked but had obviously been sitting around whilst the rissoto was being cooked as it arrived just off cold. The vegetable were also very scarce. Very disappointing considering a charge of $47. When I complained about the food being cold the manager took the steak off the bill. This is definitely and overated restaurant and not one we would recommend nor would we return.
We loved our evening at Workshop!
Wonderful, attentive staff brought out a variety of starters, mains and desert. They took special attention to care for our guests with different dietary needs.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!
Worked flawlessly!
Worked so well! I was a bit nervous, but everything went very smoothly. purchased the reservation, and got into the restaurant seamlessly.

So glad I came across this app :)
Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here
Prime time, great meal

Got impossible NYC res

Worked perfectly to get into Carbone. So delighted
perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.

Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
