The good news is that despite the long wait or the need to sign up well in advance on the day you want to dine... the food is worth it
Food was great.
My first time going in 5 years. Sad to learn Mark sold 3 years ago. I took a party of 5 from work for lunch. We are young people and love a cool vibe. I'm happy to say the food was still good. I'm NOT HAPPY to say the music was so blaring we couldn't hear ourselves talk. We asked the waitress and waiter to turn the music down. They both reported they "are not allowed." I said I'm the customer here spending hundreds of dollars and you are not allowed (the speaker was right above our table). Other customers complained as well. They said the new Armenian owner would not allow them to consider the paying customers. Mark was always customer driven. My message to the new owner: please don't ruin a good thing. If I'm treated that way (and the waitress was rude as heck), I'm not giving you my business. Do better.
Probably top five best sushi restaurants in Los Angeles!
Probably top five best sushi restaurants in Los Angeles! Extremely fresh fish, extremely innovative menu, and lots of things to taste and it's always outstanding! Service is whatever, but you don't come here for service. There's no reservation so it's first come first serve so be ready to stand in line for at least an hour. So probably have a quick bite to eat before you come here so by the time you sit at the table you'll be hungry. The ambiance, there's nothing really to speak about, but you're not here for that nor the service. Specifically for the most incredible sushi in Los Angeles. I wish they would open something closer to West Hollywood and Beverly Hills Hills.
I have been here 4 times now and the food quality is always
I have been here 4 times now and the food quality is always extremely good, a little overpriced, and The wait is long too. But I knew what to expect. What really surprised me tonight was the process to get seated when we got there right as they opened for dinner at 5pm. We arrived 5 minutes before opening and there were about 20 people outside. I was unsure if it was a line to sign in or not once they opened. What I didn't know was that they open the doors at like 3pm-4pm so you can put your name on the list. When we put our name on the list we were 25th in line. When they started seating people it was obvious that more than half of the people on the list were not there for their name to be called. Which gave me a little hope I wouldn't have to wait as long. But think again! People will come and walk in hours later and cut you in line. Also it seems if you are a regular you get special service. It seems like they have the upper hand. What I recommend for someone trying to avoid the line.. get there at 330, sign in, leave and do some shopping and hang out around the block. And Come back just before they open at 5, and hope nobody will be there in time enough so you can skip the lazy entitled people that will ruin the experience for the people who come wait and follow the rules. Sometimes you just have to milk the system!! Bathroom was gross and ambiance is loud, and people are shoveled in there like sardines. If you don't mind that it's NY style seating there ambiance will be ok.. your personal space will be intruded on. We ordered our drinks with our server being across another table so we were shouting across the table next to us as they were talking about spending 6000$ on their baby's clothes and complaining about their Nannie's. Lol. Depends what one is willing to go through to consider it to be a good meal. To each their own!
we have been going there for over 20 years and haVE FOUND
we have been going there for over 20 years and haVE FOUND THAT THEY ARE THE BEST, We have gone to many other restaurants and the quality and creativeness and the ambiance is top notch. yes it is small and intimate but the food and service is fantastic. You can go to the trendy paces but they just don't cut it. The product never fails, it is a real find Irwin Z

They have a lot of "MP" for the price on their menu so expect for a pricey meal. They have limited seating so if you didn't make it here early enough to add your name to the list expect a bit of a wait. We came for my sisters birthday dinner since this is her favorite sushi place. I tired the tuna nigiri and some various rolls that we split. Everything was pretty fresh, the nigiri was very impressive. The rolls were fine, but I wouldn't say it's totally worth the price. It's very good sushi overall but I think the price is based on the city/location. I'm rounding up from a 3 1/2 since yelp only lets you give full stars.
This has been on my bucket list for forever now and I'm so
This has been on my bucket list for forever now and I'm so happy I got to try it today. The wait is a little long because they have limited seating but the service is very fast. Everything was super fresh and amazing! The shibuya roll was the absolute best I was actually so shocked! Overall, the food is amazing and one of the best sushi spots I've been to!
The food is always great.
But it has no class. They play loud street music over an already very noise small restaurant. AWFUL!
I will always wonder why they don't make this place bigger
I will always wonder why they don't make this place bigger but it's because it's one of a kind and they are keeping it that way. I love everything in the menu and they are worth the wait and the drive I came in from Orange County with family for this place. I live out here but my family drove in and loved it ! Thanks guys

I feel bad writing this review because the staff is very nice and patient. I imagine with how much people go in and out of the restaurant to ask when they're gonna be sat every 5 minutes is pretty annoying for them. I give this place two stars because it's extremely overhyped. People on TikTok say this is the best sushi restaurant in LA and some say in the world, and it's just not true. Everything has a sweetness to it that overtakes the flavor of the fish. Personally I like my spicy tuna rolls and other sushi to be savory. The price is average for most sushi restaurants. The interior is a bit old and dingy. Yes the fish tastes fresh, but unfortunately the sauces and seasonings are too sweet. Yes you are going to wait 3+ hours most likely to be sat. Maybe you'll wait and end up never being sat. No the hype is not real. Obviously people do like this place that's why it has tons of good reviews... to each their own. I just hope this review helps someone save time and money. The best thing we tried was the seared toro nigiri.. but even then the rice flavor overpowers the flavor of the fish. I don't think this review will change the restaurant, I just hope it helps someone.
Worth the wait
Shibuya is the first choice of almost every sushi lover in Calabasas. While the restaurant is small (seats are hard to come by) and the parking lot not nearly large enough for the dinner rush, no one ever questions the freshness or quality of the sushi. If you want to get the first seating, you need to sign up at least an hour before they open. My favorites include anything with spicy tuna (try the crispy rice), albacore sashimi with crispy onions, tempura white fish role and the yellow tail collar. Everything is great... just be sure to ask the price for specials before you order one... some of them are extremely expensive!
Disappointing sushi place
My husband & I have been to Shibuya several times, however after today I’m truly done with this place for good!!! They have a ridiculous wait list where you put your name down when you arrive which does not make any sense since it is totally controlled by the front door guys who sit people as they please not based on the order of the waiting list (but rather based on their favourites, or the ones who are regulars or the ones who tip them). Sushi is decent but overall average: neither bad nor outstanding for the price and absurd up to 2 hours wait every time.
Fabulous sushi -- But . . .
Fabulous sushi . . . BUT!!! The best sushi anywhere and the sushi-chefs are friendly and accommodating. I know you can't wait to hear the "but". For a very classy restaurant, the music is disgusting. Do we really want hard/acid rock music in such a high quality place. I wonder if the person choosing the music is over the age of 11.

Let's say Peter has a great morning and decides to take his three friends to Shibuya Calabasas at 6 PM the same day.
He checks the restaurant's website and sees that no reservations are available. He then looks at the Shibuya Calabasas page on AppointmentTrader, but finds that there are no user postings either.
That's where the community-driven bid process comes in.
Peter can place a bid on AppointmentTrader, which serves as a reward for any community member who chooses to work on securing the reservation. AT then notifies experienced users who may be able to help.
Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* EternalAnt36, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* EternalAnt36 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to EternalAnt36 for any questions Peter may have as EternalAnt36 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* EternalAnt36 now uses their connections at Shibuya Calabasas to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If EternalAnt36 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, EternalAnt36 receives the $200 reward which is credited to EternalAnt36's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at Shibuya Calabasas!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
