Hiroki Philadelphia Reviews from The Last Year
My girlfriend and I are avid sushi lovers so we came here
My girlfriend and I are avid sushi lovers so we came here for our anniversary dinner. We had a wonderful time, the setting is a mix of contemporary and a hint of rustic.we sat at the sushi counter which was spacious enough where it felt like an we had an intimate setting even while alongside eight other people at the same counter. The omakase was the star of the show and made itself known from the very first bite. The highlight of my dinner was the rainbow trout which had a nice bouncy texture and a such a sophisticated flavor profile that a review wouldn't do it justice. The staff were knowledgeable and attentive to our needs and made us feel welcome and cozy. The freshness of the fish is apparent and the attention to detail is impressive as they make slight changes to the menu everyday according to the ingredients available to them which are sourced globally within 48 hours. Hiroki provides an excellent omakase experience for a reasonable price.
Hate to make it about the money but when you're the one of
Hate to make it about the money but when you're the one of the most expensive Omakase experiences in Philly, it's hard not to. $150pp gets you roughly 20 "courses" aka bites. The first 6 were awesome, composed, thoughtful culinary driven bites. 10/10. Wagyu to poached eggs to some of the best fish I've ever had. The following 7-8 sushi bites felt like an after thought compared to the first courses. You'd have to reeeaally care and have a pristine pallet to differentiate between the cuts of fish to appreciate what the purpose of showcasing them so so simply. All were done over a pad of rice. Nothing more/less. Classic and authentic sure, but not very memorable. Again, I get the point of this, it's sushi true to form. How "they" do it, yep got it. But when your check is $455 for two, I feel the need to evaluate the experience from a value standpoint. I'd almost wish the sushi and composed dishes had been flipped in the way of order, would've helped me forget how uneventful they were. In traditional American style Omakase fashion, we felt like we needed to fly through the courses. The 2 person wait staff was quick to nudge you along. They even made an off color comment to us about the other guests taking it slow when we jokingly asked if we were rushing. One last comment- AVOID the sparkling water when asked..it's $38 and not noted as such on any part of the menu. As far as the other drinks (only sake, and a single bottled beer) go, expect to need the same amount of knowledge/intrigue as the prices of the sake bottles are all at least or more than $100. Very pricey altogether.
One of the best things I have ever eaten-the price ($155)
One of the best things I have ever eaten-the price ($155) didn't feel like a lot for all the food I got, all of which was brilliantly prepared and involved high quality ingredients. My favorites were the uni-caviar-wagyu dish, the fatty tuna, the idiot fish sushi, and the poached egg with truffles. Will definitely come back next time I'm in Philly.
What a great omakase restaurant which is very authentic,
What a great omakase restaurant which is very authentic, above and beyond my expectation. I was on a vacation. My sister recommended this Hiroki restaurant that did not disappoint. Everyone should come and check this place out while you are in Philly.
We loved our meal at Hiroki - it was a wonderful
We loved our meal at Hiroki - it was a wonderful celebration meal (we went on NYE). It was absolutely sensational and not a meal I will forget anytime soon! The people who are saying in other reviews that it's not outstanding... it's just very unclear how you would get that impression. The fish tasted incredibly fresh to us. Every bite was so delicious! I highly recommend trying to get a spot at the sushi counter - it will still be fun in the dining room (just behind the sushi counter, it is a small place) but it is fun to watch the preparation and have the sushi chef pass you the dishes directly. I couldn't believe we were in Philly, you are really transported as soon as you walk in - an unforgettable evening! Just for reference, 20% gratuity is included in your bill. For two, with two glasses of sake, it was around $450.00 so $$$$ but a very special meal, and I think it was worth it for the experience.
Not worth the value
I completely agree with Benjamin P’s review. My husband and I had reservations to go for his birthday in April 2020, but had to cancel due to covid. I follow the Philly restaurant scene very closely, and although I never heard much about Hiroki, we still decided to visit since it seemed like a cool experience. To sum it up, you just don’t get the value that you pay for, mostly because the food isn’t anything special. We don’t have children so I don’t mind dropping several hundred dollars on mind-blowing food, but $500 for food that lacks flavor and sustenance is unacceptable. I will say the experience of the sushi counter is great, the people are very nice, but just not worth it at all in my opinion, especially with all the other amazing eateries you can find in Philly.
We've been hitting Hiroki for celebration meals since
We've been hitting Hiroki for celebration meals since moving to Philly several years ago (6-7 times now). They never disappoint! It's always an incredible experience. We're so grateful to have a go to spot in town of this caliber.
I have so many wonderful things to say about our evening at
I have so many wonderful things to say about our evening at Hiroki. The ambience creates the perfect vibe and there are so many details that my husband and I appreciated from the miniature replica of the building's original exterior to the cinder block chop stick holders to the lighting (and don't get me started on the bathroom....wow). The courses get progressively better as the meal goes on and each is plated in a unique way on such different and special plates and serveware. The wines were served in the most amazingly delicate glasses. As we worked our way through the menu we found things big and small that we loved - the uzu lemon salt for the sashimi course was so good, I almost asked to take some home. The ginger shoot with the one course was surprisingly delicious and I wanted to take home a dozen to snack on. Each bite of sushi was so delicious, there's not much more to say about them, other than they got better and better and it was so fun to watch them be made right in front of us. Our absolute favorite course was the cheesecake - it was just so different and so delicious, we raved about it. It ended an amazing meal full of so many different tastes with a bang! Last and 100% certainly not least, the staff was so amazing - welcoming, knowledgable, polite, unobtrusive but helpful, and just wow. Definitely 5 star service. On the flip side, I will say the building was hard to find - the name of the restaurant blends in with the wall and is easily missed after the sun has gone down. The only other issue we had was the wine list - Within the "Red/Rose" section there were four wines - one rose and three red. So to start, the selection of red wines is limited. Then we discovered they were out of two of the reds. So, there was only one red wine on the menu - they had an additional by the glass red available, which was good because we did not like the pinot from the menu at all.
Great bathrooms.
Great food. Cool front door. Great sake selection. Great service. Kinda hard to get a reservation
This is a special experience! Admittedly, this was my first
This is a special experience! Admittedly, this was my first omakase experience, and I was completely blown away. I've seen other reviews from people who are more familiar with this type of cuisine/dining style who seemed to have completely different opinions. That said, if this is your first time, I would highly recommend. It is quite an enchanting start to finish. There feels like a bit of mystery as you wonder down the side alley way in Fishtown, to be immediately met with this beautiful large wooden round door (you cannot miss it). As we stepped inside, we were greeted by a very nice host who had us seated pretty quickly. A lot of dark and rich tones/textures in the restaurant - it is very cozy and relaxing. We sat at the bar itself, which in my opinion, is way more worth it than sitting at a table. If you can request it, do it, because you have a front row seat to all the action. Each seat practically has its own "picture perfect" lighting (which you will see in my shared photos) and you'll want to have the camera ready with how beautiful each plating is. I will say, this is an expensive meal, so we passed on the sake pairing, but if i have a chance to go back, I definitely would consider it. Really hard to nit-pick anything from start to finish. You kick off the meal with a warm towel and are swept away by the appetizers & sashimi. My favorite bite may have been the marinated poached egg yolk, but hands down most interesting bie was the fried river crab. This was super adventurous, so you do have to be open minded with these dishes (we also tried jellyfish for the first time!) I thought all of the fish was superb - fresh, clean, and well paired in their respective dishes. Don't overlook the Misuji Nikomi, which was the wagyu flat iron with red miso glaze - delicious! My favorite sushi bite was the Toro, which was fatty bluefin tuna...it literally just melted in my mouth. As I said before, you are laying down a big check on this, and while each individual plating is rather small, you do get nearly 20 platings. I am a BIG eater, and still left feeling content with the total amount, and felt like pricing was fair. At the end of the day, I feel obligated to give it a 4 star because they offer zero flexibility for vegetarians. Now I get it, if you are planning to go here, you can't miss the fact that they don't make accommodations, so it is not necessarily a surprise factor. However, this is a place I know my wife would love (service, atmosphere, etc.) but she will never get a chance to visit because of it. It's a shame, because this is a place that I feel like everyone should experience, but until that changes, it feels very limiting for all folks to give it a shot.
love the ambiance and energy inside the restaurant - would
love the ambiance and energy inside the restaurant - would not come with more than 2 people tbh because you really have to sit at the sushi counter and they dont seat parties greater than 2 there im pretty sure. would def not be worth if youre just like 4 people sitting in the dark corner getting the sushi ferried to ur table. definitely left full, loved the hot dishes in the beginning too (especially the soy cod). still not super happy with their rice but the fish was delicious and overall a very comfortable + fun + visually interesting dining experience. omakase + bottle of sake split between 2 people - $260 pp after tax and tip. this is for 3 small bites, 3 hot food plates, 10 nigiri, 1 handroll, soup, tamago, dessert

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.

perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
