Grey Gardens Toronto Reviews from The Last Year
I've been longing to try Grey Gardens and I'm happy I
I've been longing to try Grey Gardens and I'm happy I finally did! While the menu is small, it's jam packed with a variety of unique dishes and flavours. The mushroom dish, brimming with umami, is probably the best I've ever had. The Arctic char crudo was flavorful and well balanced. And the lamb pasta was good and unique. Didn't love the pesto ravioli - a bit too earthy for my liking.
We were here Thurs.
, April 20th (2023) btwn the hours 6:30-8:00 pm. Of all the fine dining restaurants we've been to in Toronto, this is the only place that has wow-ed us from beginning to end. The restaurant was dimly lit, & the ambiance quite romantic. And while the food was phenomenal, the service was even more outstanding. Great recommendations for food & wine, and many thanks to the male waiter for providing us with a more detailed explanation on the dishes we especially liked. Would 100% recommend (& have actually already done so -- my friends were wow-ed too!). Truly deserving of their bib gourmand. The menu rotates, but I would highly recommend the red tail bread & butter (I believe this is a permanent menu item), the ox tail ravioli, & the semifreddo if these are on the menu when you go!! ((:
Grey Gardens is an intimate restaurant in Kensington Market
Grey Gardens is an intimate restaurant in Kensington Market with an open kitchen concept. Whether you sit at a table or sit at the bar, you'll be able to see all the work that goes into each dish here. Bright and airy during the day, or dim and ambient at night, you'll find the perfect environment that you're looking for. The menu rotates frequently so you'll always find something new to try. We tried the: Smoked fish chip n' dip ($15) Campanelle: morels, fava beans, black garlic ($26) Salmon: spinach, dashi, turnip ($35) I was surprised with it's beautiful interior and upscale food considering the neighbourhood it's in! With that in mind, it's more of a splurge compared to it's nearby restaurants in the neighbourhood for this reason.
A spot that's been on my list for a while! Tucked away in
A spot that's been on my list for a while! Tucked away in kensington market, its unassuming on the outside, but has a nice romantic ambiance on the inside. However, the tables are quite close together and I did wish we had a little more space to maneuver. We had 5 dishes, smoked fish dip, beef tartare, cauliflower, tagliatelle, and pork chop. The smoked fish is a classic and must-have. It felt creamy and was delicious. The beef tartare was quite good, but they came with small herbaceous baked breads? I think I prefer a crusty sourdough or crostini to complement beef tartare. The cauliflower had a mushroom mixture which was delicious and a side sauce that was VERY lemony, almost too much so. The tagliatelle was cooked perfectly, the pasta having a great bite, and the sauce and duck sausage was fantastic. Probably the favourite dish was the giant smoked pork chop was cooked perfectly, was very filling, and had us picking at the bone. Also came with a great sauce and some Brussels.
Cute spot in Kensington.
Food was fantastic but portions are pretty small. I recommend the smoked fish dip as started. Skip the bread as nothing special. They have a wide selection of wine, I got the orange wine and it was delicious
Hidden gem in Kensington Market.
Unassuming from the exterior with a pleasant interior with three seating styles: bar seating, tables and kitchen bar seating. The menu is limited but has a good variety fo choices. We had the 7 layer dip (good but pricey; I would probably try the smoked fish dip next time for a more economical starter). The Celery Root and Scallop dishes were amazing. Pretty plating and a perfect balance of flavours. The Tagliatelle was a bit underwhelming compared to the other dishes; it's decent but nothing special. I would try the Hand Torn Noodles next time. The Skate on the other hand was amazing - it looked and tasted almost like a brisket and was served in a buttery foam with lots of sauce. Would definitely recommend and would come back again!
Wow. Michelin rated level restaurant without the bullshit.
Wow. Michelin rated level restaurant without the bullshit. Across the board excellent.

I love everything about this place, from the cozy ambiance, to the friendly & knowledgeable servers to the inventive and exciting food. Most appropriate as sharing plates. One teeny negative on Saturday night was the sauce under the (amazing) duck - waaaay too salty, so that it masked the other flavours. Other than that - brilliant! Don't leave without having their bread. Off the charts.
If you ever wondered where the upwardly-mobile foodie
If you ever wondered where the upwardly-mobile foodie hipsters dine, this is the place! The food is fantastic, the ambiance is casual, yet elegant, and the service is down to earth. Great meal experience overall. This place gets high accolades (it also appears on the Michelin guide honourable mentions), and it did not disappoint. Food: 5/5 ======== The food is most delicious. Each dish was well-thought-out. You can tell that they are serious about their food, as they have a big open gallery kitchen that is teaming with activity. Here's what we got: Smoked fish appetizer - $16. Most delicious spread. Very smokey. Was served with super thin potato chips. At first I thought it was weird to have a chip instead of a cracker, but it actually worked beautifully. Must try dish. Kampachi - $22 - delicious crudo. Must try. Celery root salad - $18 - very nice. Cauliflower - $18 - very nice. Skate - $35 - very delicious. Was very rich, like a braised beef. Five Spice Cake - $12. Yum! I LOVE five spice, and the cake did the spice mix justice. One complaint I had was that the cocktail list was basically non-existent. The one cocktail I tried (Bitter Spritz 18$) was not great (diluted, sweet and no bitters). The wine options were very expensive. I opted for the Saison beer (Burdock Tuesday $9), and I was not disappointed. Service: 4/5 ========= The service was mostly friendly, but a little lukewarm. The server knew the dishes very well, and was able to remember the options by heart. Very casual style of service overall (complete with hipster scruffy outfits), which is somewhat nice, and at the same time leaves you wanting a little more warmth and elegance. Ambiance: 5/5 ============ The ambiance overall is very nice. Let's start with the fact that the restaurant is located in hipster-central: Kensington Market. At the same time, it's definitely elevated for the neighbourhood. The place is very casual, but not without elegance. The decor is grungy, but not without style. The lights are nice and dim. It's definitely warm and rather romantic. You could definitely come here on a first date. The playlist was amazing. I kept wanting to Shazam the songs. Value: 3/5 ======== The small plates are rather expensive. You won't leave here stuffed. At the same time, you feel like you are getting rewarded with great tasting plates. Keep up the good work, Grey Gardens.

We made reservations to Grey Gardens for a table for two a month prior. Between us, we ordered the smoked fish chip and dip, scallop crudo, crown, smoked leeks, apple galette, and panna cotta. They had an extensive wine selection and some non-alcoholic options. Service was terrific, and we loved the ambiance. The food was delicious and paced well - we stayed for almost three hours. My favourite dishes were the scallop crudo and both dessert options. Accessibility: washrooms have an automatic door opener button.
Tip Shaming
We went to this restaurant last week. I do not like to write poor reviews but I have never experienced this at any restaurant. The dinner was good some dishes were excellent some were mediocre. The Asparagus shwarma was our favorite. There was a lovely blond lady who served us with a dark-haired woman. When the bill came I paid with a 15% tip. The dark-haired lady took the machine back looked at the tip came running back and asked if was everything ok. I said yes. She walked away shaking her head and ran to the other server still shaking her head. I looked down at the bill thinking I did not give the 15%. But no I did. I do not give tips based on social pressure but on what I feel the wait staff deserve. Anything more than 15% has to be exceptional and the service was not that for me.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
