Georgia Boy Atlanta Reviews from The Last Year
Amazing experience.
Everything about it was whimsical. It was extremely fascinating watching the highly trained chefs. Use her tweezers to pick each piece of the salad and place them in its proper place. An unforgettable experience, and amazing food. I appreciate the head chef And owner that partook in the entire experience.
I've been to a lot of great places in Atlanta - but this is
I've been to a lot of great places in Atlanta - but this is truly a different and amazing experience. The chef was so interactive with us - the thoughtfulness of the dishes - the fun and non pretentious yet elevated dining experience.... Truly unique and memorable. The sommelier and wine pairing perfect compliment!
What an amazing experience! Have been to some other prix
What an amazing experience! Have been to some other prix fixe spots in town but this is definitely the most unique. Lots of interaction with the chef, and a very fun, non-pretentious vibe. Playful and delicious meal. The sommelier was also beyond amazing. Recommend wine pairing also.
Remarkable
The perfect evening in my eyes, is some drinks, a beautiful meal and a wonderful show. Georgia Boy is able to provide all of these in a truly magical adventure of food and theatre. The theatre isn’t only provided in the food, which turns and twists your taste buds in every direction and makes you question the look of the dish, compared to the flavour at every corner. It is also provided in the overall dining experience itself. How can you dish up a scallop with a breakfast cereal ? How does a dish looking like candy floss, taste like bacon ? The questions go on and on. How can a dining experience become an adventure ? Without giving too much away, this restaurant provides it. As the curtains are closed in front of you, you descend into a world of Willy Wonka magic. It is simply not possible to detail each dish of our tasting menu of 12 dishes, as it would be unfair for those that dine here to have the excitement taken away from them. Just enter the stage and let the show commence.
This was easily the best dining experience I've ever had in
This was easily the best dining experience I've ever had in Atlanta, and I've been to most of the great restaurants in and around the city. My daughter and I booked the Georgia Boy for a nice evening out. I already had high expectations given what I had previously read online, but to say that Georgia Boy exceeded those expectations would be an understatement. It's not just a meal, it's not just a chef's table, it's an incredible dining experience. The food was off the charts in terms of creativity, presentation and taste, the service is impeccable, and the atmosphere and the way they set up the entire experience was magical. Chef Joey Ward and his team have created something special at Georgia Boy, and I can't recommend it enough...and now I'm looking forward to going back soon with my wife!
OUTSTANDING Service and Food!!!
Our reservation ended being a night in which they had a lot of late diners due to ATL weather and traffic. We waited to be seated for 45 minutes at a dive bar a few doors down. The hostess could tell we were not at all happy. BUT, this is where the story gets great. Once we were finally seated, but the hostess who always kept a smile, our waiter showed up quickly and also with a great attitude. He also apologized and told us our first drinks would be on the house which immediately lightened our mood. He walked us through the menu, and everything we ordered was amazing! The cassoulet was slap yo momma good, as we say in the south! The next huge surprise came at the end when we got the bill. They also removed our 2 appetizers from the bill as a thanks for being patient with them. The companies that truly get it in service realize that issues will arise, but it’s how you recover that can make all the difference. They truly get it at Southern Belle. We’ll be back for sure, and you should go too if in The A!
World class cuisine presented with whimsical genius in a casual, comfortable setting
This young, award-winning restaurant is located two doors adjacent to the historic Plaza theater on Ponce de Leon Avenue. One enters into a long rectangular room that is known as the Southern Belle’, the establishment’s cocktail forward casual restaurant space. Separated by a bar area, ‘Georgia Boy’ is the upscale prix fixe restaurant behind it. Georgia boy is a whimsical invitation to enjoy the chefs imaginative approach to food playing on themes from the author, Roald Dahl, and Georgia folk culture. There are only two rectangular granite tables that seat approximately eight people per table in the same kitchen/dining space as a small team of creative chefs who bring each course right to the table on whimsical and beautiful dishware. My wife enjoyed the non-alcoholic wines and mocktails while I tried the wine pairings. Everything was superb. The 12 course menu is amazing. I have provided a photograph of the list that they provide at the end of the meal. And, I have enjoyed prefix multicourse meals around the world and I would place this among the top three. All of the dishes were exceptional, but the scallop with a cereal-like topping (think of Alpen muesli) and milk was transcendent and impossible to conceive.
What can I say about Georgia Boy that hasn't already been
What can I say about Georgia Boy that hasn't already been said? This was by far the most unique and incredible dining experience I've had to date. I don't want to ruin the surprises for anyone else so I won't go into details. I'll say every course was perfectly executed and flawlessly presented. The staff were fun and friendly. It will leave you wanting to go back for more!!
Charming
Loved the charm of the restaurant. The At Dawn or Dusk mocktail was delicious. Risotto was flavorful and filling. Staff was attentive and helpful.
Georgia Boy really stood out for me in terms of creativity
Georgia Boy really stood out for me in terms of creativity and experience after trying several noteworthy tasting menus in the past. Maybe it's because I'm a native Atlantan, but these guys truly understand how to blend literature, art, food, and culture into an unforgettable dining experience. The kitchen has a low-key vibe, and the service is awesome. If you're looking for a unique dining adventure, book a table at Georgia Boy now!
I am a big "Foodie"and think I've now had my foodie dream
I am a big "Foodie"and think I've now had my foodie dream come true in ATL. @georgiaboyatlanta was by far the best meal I've ever had in the city. Such a great example of fine southern food set in a speakeasy kitchen atmosphere. Each bite burst with flavor and built upon the next. The Milk and Cereal, Buford Highway, Pork Belly and Oyster were huge highlights. The presentation of each course was whimsical and playful. An incredible evening of wonderful food, friends and the best in fine dining. A big thank you to our hosts @angela.herrington.3 and scottjohnson. Can't wait to go again.
Exceptional Meal at Southern Belle
My wife and I had a date night at Southern Belle last night, and it firmly established Southern Belle as one of our new favorite restaurants in Atlanta. The meal was exceptional, start to finish! The plates are designed for sharing (perfect for "date night"), so we split two small and two large items. We had a hard time ranking our favorite courses, as everything was utterly delicious, refined, and inventive! Our first course was a warm brussels salad, with beautifully flavorful crisp brussels melded with delicate blue cheese morsels and delightfully piquant pickled cherries. The next course (lobster paparadelle) was also delicious, but probably our least favorite of the entire lot. The lobster was tender and perfectly cooked, and the kale chips were insanely tasty, but the different elements of this complex dish didn't quite synergize together in the same way that our other courses did. Our next course was probably the highlight of the meal, the Vietnamese style "chicken and waffles." While we were worried that this might be just a gimmicky "concept" dish that wouldn't land, it actually was a perfect reflection of Chef Joey Ward's cuisine: rooted in the Southern vernacular, but with international flair and refinement! The delicate peanut waffles were the perfect accompaniment for the crispy bites of fried chicken thigh, especially when drenched with the incredible nuoc cham maple sauce and the lime butter. We almost wanted to order a second portion of these, because we completely devoured them! Our final main course was the beef short ribs on gouda grits. While not particularly inventive, it was perfectly executed, with a generous portion of fork-tender braised short rib that was perfectly complemented by the grits and delicate mustard greens. Although we were stuffed at this point, we couldn't turn away from desert. I had the Hummingbird cake (an exemplar of Southern spiced cake with nuts and pineapple), and my wife enjoyed a phenomenal chocolate tart. Our cocktails were also terrific (I had a "Big Nick Energy," their seasonal eggnog cocktail with a cinnamon liqueur). Service was excellent (besides a slight delay in getting our bill at the end of the meal). Perhaps the only complaint was the seating, as they offer mainly "highboy" chairs and tables, which are not particularly comfortable. Pricing was very fair (about $200 total for four mains, two desserts and two cocktails). The ambiance was sort of "swank, hip lounge"--tasteful, and not overly formal. We will definitely be back, and we are tempted to try the "Georgia Boy" prixe fixe experience the next time we are celebrating a special occasion!
This is where I believe Michelin reviews are not perfect.
Georgia Boy should have received the highly touted and desired Michelin Star along with other counterparts in the Atlanta area such as Lazy Betty. Atlanta, in my opinion, still not as competitive as NYC or other major cities where Michelin starred restaurants reside. However, there are a few stand outs, and when the list was announced, I was shocked that this restaurant did not receive a star. Georgia Boy's culinary skill, technique, art/visual, service, etc. exemplify a Michelin Star. Again, shocked and learned through this new list for Atlanta that Michelin reviewers are human beings after all. Georgia Boy is a speakeasy style restaurant where a set of 8 can make reservation at certain slots during the evening. The restaurant is embedded inside Southern Belle, and the concept is unique in itself for Atlanta. The owner and executive chef created Southern Belle dedicating it to his wife, Emily Ward, and Joey Ward, the executive chef is the Georgia Boy. I find it romantic. The menu changes depending on the actual season. Of course this is a multi-course meal, so here are some memorable items. The restaurant first place you in the "library" and it is pretty cozy. People around me started to wonder if this is where they will be eating. The answer is no. This is just to go over expectations and pre-tasting items. The blueberry pancake was very unique. The pancake was in a flute like glass and had a piece of "blueberry," which ended up being the blueberry reduction pancake. Pleasantly surprised. Then, the hostess walks you through a murphy door, and you get placed into the kitchen where you will start your real experience. "A Trip Down Buford HWY" changes depending on the season, but what the executive chef does is he picks cuisines from Buford Hwy in Atlanta and makes a fusion based course. He nails this quite well. Heirloom Tomato Focaccia was a big surprise. He basically reduces the tomatoes and rebuilds the tomato back up. In the bottom of the tomato, the "ground or soil" where the tomato is grown from, is an interesting artistic expression. Perfectly balances the acidity from the tomato. Using all Georgia ingredients, including Georgia made olive oil, you can really feel the chef's intent to highlight Georgia's produce. Not sure if the restaurant is still making this, but caviar within an egg yolk... just simply amazing. When I first took that bite, my tongue was blown away. Initially, from a visual perspective, it looked like an over-easy egg. Obviously, it was not. When I split the "yellow yolk" in half, there was caviar. Just brilliant combination and artful way to present and surprise the patron. Again, the menu changes so what I had may not be there when someone tries it. However, I know that Georgia Boy will always have a duck dish. The duck cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside with perfect seasoning and juicy and savory in the inside. The duck is glazed perfectly with other accompaniments. Most likely, you will also have a dessert that is presented to you in a beater. There is a story behind the dessert, and it is a unique way of eating a dessert. Just overall great flavor and it is tribute to the chef's memory when he ate cake mixes or cake through the beater at home. Overall, there are about 15ish courses, so obviously, I can't list them all, but the theme is consistent through every season. I highly recommend this restaurant. If someone asks, top two restaurants in Atlanta that resembles other competitive Michelin Star restaurants with advanced technique and art from other cities such as New York City, San Francisco, Chicago, Seoul, Rome, Paris, London, Tokyo, Vienna, Berlin, etc., I say Georgia Boy is one of them.
If you want to go on a wild and exceptional culinary ride,
If you want to go on a wild and exceptional culinary ride, don't sleep on the Georgia Boy experience! This is a multi-course tasting menu that is so much fun from start to finish! You start off in their little library for the first few courses, then proceed through the "secret door" into their kitchen area for the remainder of your courses. The food, you ask? It is delicious, full of love, whimsical, and so creative. When you really take time to think about it, it's mind blowing how much prep time goes into this food. So many intricate details, such as leaves made from sweet potatoes. The visual appeal of the courses is stunning, and more importantly translates into tasting amazing! Service is seamless, as you would expect. But what's really nice is that there are no pretentious or stuffy vibes. They have wine pairings available that really elevate the experience, and also really fun zero proof options.
Food service and ambience were amazing.
We really enjoyed our dinner here. We would highly recommend.
Underwhelming and Overpriced
It was woefully underwhelming. The diners with whom we shared the nook and subsequently the table were the best feature of the experience. They giggled along with us at many of the courses. We were waiting on someone to come out and confirm we were being punked. The wine pairing was horrendous. The servers tell disjointed stories about the wine that do not in any way share a theme or connect to the food being served. The service was mediocre overall. Our primary server disregarded previously and repeatedly communicated dietary restrictions and was rather rude after serving an item in violation of religious adherence and never apologized for the egregious error. Instead the server chose to awkwardly avoid us for the remainder of the very long dinner (nearly four hours in duration after starting 20 minutes late). Most of the food was served cold to lukewarm; the worst of which was a "tomato and mayonnaise" crabby patty (in size and I also imagine taste) that lingered on the pallet for 20 minutes after suffering the initial bite. That horrendous dish was served with a real water hose and gulf coast salt water ice chips (described differently - tasting like salt water nonetheless). It had to have been a joke of some kind. As one of the courses, we were served mixed butter and sugar (the genesis of cake batter) dolloped on a mixer beater. The other guests at our table were as amused as we were by the audacity. The second to worst dish award goes to the beet tartare - for the price, I would have liked to have been able to finish it, but it was so disgusting and the taste so putrid, my gag reflex wouldn't allow it. You'd think we were vegetarian, but we are not. Why not serve tuna tartare to the pescatarians? The omnivores were served beef. It was a cheap slight which was the true theme of the evening. Not everything was a miss--the collards were delicious and would have been spectacular if they were hot and not served on an elementary school cafeteria tray with a hodgepodge of other disconnected foods. The best dish was the sorbet - the whole teaspoon full that all guests raved about. It was served atop flowers that our man server confirmed were edible, though they wouldn't recommend eating because they also confirmed these flowers were reused across several meals. There was no stove top or true oven use that we saw in the kitchen, just a convection oven with 4 - 6 chefs standing around waiting 10 -20 minutes between courses to assemble as part of the middle school play theatrics. Don't suffer the same indignation we suffered. Go to another restaurant that serves solidly good food and doesn't rely upon modern mythology and ostentatious flair to gain diners.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!

Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
