Warren Tavern Charlestown Reviews from The Last Year
Great service, but the clam chowder was very disappointing.
They need to remove the disclaimer that it's the best in town. I would definitely visit again.

What a great place! We found this by accident, and were delightfully surprised. It is like stepping into a charming piece of history. Of course, we had the chowder and fish and chips. The chowder is excellent, amply proportioned and reasonably priced. The service is outstanding. For a busy place, you are never made to feel rushed. The whole Tavern has an authentic vibe that amazing.
The place is as old as Boston itself.
The lobster roll was good but not amazing. The lobster is definitely for some but not all but I didn't mind it. The place just felt like 1780 and the service was nice. 4/5
This is unexpectedly such a cute place in such a cute
This is unexpectedly such a cute place in such a cute neighborhood. It really made me feel like I entered another world with the decor and vibes. Very fun. We came here for oysters happy hour but also ordered a bunch of other food that's not pictured. We very much enjoyed the food, but we had slightly higher expectations for the oysters. They looked like they lacked a little meat. Service was unfortunately a bit slow, and some of our food came out really late.
Yum!
We stopped here for lunch while visiting Boston. We couldn’t have been happier. My son and I both had cheeseburgers (two different kinds) and we agreed that these were top notch. My daughter had the chicken burrito bowl. It was huge and so good. My husband was happy with his fish and chips. The building and decor are very cool. We loved it.
Came for happy hour oysters and was pleasantly surprised.
The oysters were definitely worth the price and the service was prompt for the most part.
Really cool atmosphere, given the history of the place.
Food was good, although we only did appetizers. Wait staff could've been more attentive but they seemed young and inexperienced. Nice place to visit but don't think a regular stop.
Lunch was yummy.
...cider refreshing .... staff very friendly and helpful. So glad we detoured to this historic tavern!
The guru still in Boston looking for local fare.
I heard about this historic tavern and had to check it out. The location is so outside the beaten path in this nice quant little neighborhood far away from the touristy crowds. They even have some nice outdoor seating. They have some nice drink options with friendly bartenders in a warm and inviting atmosphere. However I do still think out-of-towners should stop by here just for the history alone. They should be sure to have a nice drink and tip generously. As for the food here that's a different story. This has your basic bar food like burgers and fish and chips. They claim to have the best clam chowder but so does a whole host of other places. Now theirs is quite nice and I do recommend it but it is hardly the best. I was also encouraged to get the french onion soup. Unfortunately the cheese was burnt and the soup itself was so salty it was like tasting a salt lick. That tells you something about a place that can't do a simple french onion soup. So as a tavern I will be generous with 4 stars since my drink was nice and my clam chowder was also nice and the company I had was even nicer. Shout out to my drink companion wherever you are. Once again Boston you are full of surprises. I continue to run into nice and kind and interesting people wherever I go. Thank you Boston for making my stay that much more memorable.
A good choice
We had to wait about 45 min for our table which gave us time to walk up the road to see Bunker Hill. Great atmosphere upon walking in. Server was friendly. Son’s child’s chicken plate had a huge portion and great flavor. Husband had the fish and chips and was surprised it was one piece of fish. He said it tasted great but was still hungry. I ordered the bowl of chili. It honestly reminded me of Wendy’s Fast food chili. I’ve never been on this side of the country before so maybe that’s the normal taste. We also ordered an eggroll appetizer it was good and would order it again.
Good food great atmosphere and wonderful service.
Food was great and service was excellent. We stopped by for lunch and had such a great experience. Such a cool historical location that also delivers on food quality and service.
Clam clowder was excellent! Best bowl I had while in Boston.
Great burger also. Don't order the house chips, they are just potato chips from a bag. They swapped them out for fries for us which were really good.
This place is a cool little piece of history to have a brew
This place is a cool little piece of history to have a brew and eat. It was a tavern frequently visited by George Washington, Ben Franklin, Paul Revere and of course Joseph Warren. Here is my breakdown: Food: 5/5 The food was really good! I ordered the Plantation Sandwich and it was delicious! My wife also ordered the New England Clam Chowder and it was also delicious! Ambiance: 5/5 Going into this place feels like you take a step back in time. It's so cool, because there are many original parts of the building. We happened to go on a date of significance for the tavern. So, there was a group of men dressed up as if it was the 1700's and they gave a toast to the restaurant and everyone cheered! This was just an awesome little addition to the experience! Price: 5/5 The price was extremely reasonable. My sandwich was huge and it was only 16! But, all the menu entrees ranged from $16-30. Area: 5/5 The area was really cool. We didn't get a chance to explore much after dinner, but there seemed to be many little boutiques and nice park down the street. We parked on the street and it seems like parking could get difficult on a busy weekend. This was a fun, great experience and a must do if you are coming to the Boston area!
Great tavern
The historical tavern is a charming place with a nice atmosphere. Good beers and delicious clamshowder. We enjoyed it very much.
Old neighborhood tavern
Our server Bella was so friendly and informative. She told us her favorites which is rare. No one wants to order something when the server says they haven’t tried it but it’s popular. She was attentive and our food came out quickly. This isn’t a tourist trap. It’s a local tavern serving massive portion sizes
A lovely dinner spot !
We were served by the lovely Conor who gave us great service and we had a lovely dinner ! The food was tasty and the atmosphere was pleasant.
Great stop!
Great fish and chips! Great service! Was a great find and we will be back! Rewarded ourselves with lunch here after completing the Freedom Trail!
If you're in Boston - this is the place to eat!
We came across this place by accident. We were only in Boston for one night, and speaking to a local, she recommended this place telling us a little about its history. She said it's where the locals go, so to us, that's always a good sign. We arrive about 8pm, and were showed to a table immediately, even though it was very busy. Lots of people just chatting and laughing, you could tell is was a very popular, as it was a Thursday night and packed! Food arrived very quickly and everything was amazing! Just as we were finishing, live music was starting, to add to the already friendly and welcoming atmosphere. If were were ever in Boston again, we would definitely go back!
Welcoming to a solo traveler
I was warmly greeted as I came in and the friendly service continued throughout my lunch. It can be daunting travelling solo so the welcoming atmosphere made me feel at ease. The food was classic, authentic and tasty as hell. I can’t remember the name of the beer that I had 4 of but I liked it! Thanks for a great lunch!
Historic venue in lovely Boston.
Couldn't go past a venue that was established 1780, especially given the significance of this period to an Australian. Easy walk from our accommodation in Charlestown. Atmosphere was great. Food was great. Service was great.

Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Can come from a lot of places, people who don't want to get charged their cancellation fee or people who just have them and cant go.

almost all restaurants aren't affiliated with AT and I'm guessing it's mostly people wanting to not pay cancellation fees.

Reservations could be posted for a variety of reasons. Most likely, the person who secured the reservation can no longer attend - to avoid accruing a "no show" fee, they can find someone to take their place.
