Exceptional
The full service restaurant on the lower level was our favorite meal in San Sebastian. Incredible service. Amazing food. The best Basque wine we have ever had. And a great night we will always remember.

We arrived 15 mins before kitchen closes and they were gracious to serve us. Lovely food. We had the mushrooms with egg. Delicious but a bit overpriced. Prawns in garlic and chilli Really tasty
Be the first to ReplyCould this be one of the best Pintxos bars in town?
Visited this place and managed to get a seat straightaway - which we later realised was very lucky. We only visited a few Pintxos bars whilst in San Sebastián but this was definitely the best. We tried a few of their offerings and all were equally delicious. It was only as we went to leave that we realized there was a queue outside. So this was why the atmosphere was a bit more civilized than the ‘free-for-all’ environment at many other bars who don’t limit the number of people entering - making it very difficult to get served (in fact we walked out of one bar after 25 mins when we just couldn’t get served!)

This was our best meal in San Sebastián. You will need to get there before it opens and get in the queue. Simply stunning pintxos. Tasty and very well executed, we loved it. Highlights were the crab tart (so good!), grilled prawns, filled mini croissants, foie grois pintxo. Highly recommend this place. We loved it!

We went there for lunch twice, and must say it was the best Pintxos restaurant we visited. Original food, authentic place and extremely popular. We had the speciality, mushroom with egg, simply delicious. We also tried the tuna carpaccio- to die for :-) The place is quite crowded and with waiting que - so you better go there early

So highly recommended we were anticipating something very special. The crowded line outside waiting for pintxos was very long with an enthusiastic vibe Our 10pm dinner booking promised to be more than good. Imagine our disappointment when we were taken to a downstairs over-lit and characterless room. Our entrees were lightly dusted calamari tough with just a slice of lemon- no presentation at all. The Russian salad was ok, but no better than you r we would expect at a reasonable pintxos bar. Our main was pigeon for each of us, the breast was delicious but the wings and thighs were in some coagulated sauce and not very tasty. Again no presentation skills just plonked on a plain white plate and accompanied by a tiny serve of mashed potato. Certainly not a special meal.

Fresh pintxos / ponchos - bit of a wait but worth it. Fresh hot seafood and white asparagus. Worth popping in for a drink and 2-4 pintxos.

We absolutely loved this restaurant. The food is amazing and the staff are lovely! Prepare to stand in the line for about 30 mins but SO worth it!

What you would hope and imagine going for pintxos to be like. Absolutely packed, shoulder to shoulder seating, ordering and eating, drinking and talking to others doing likewise. It’s pretty fish centred, with small plates in addition to pintxos. Without a doubt the best of the best in San Sebastián.

Service was good an friendly. Food was good but with dinner resies we had to eat light. Ate in the dining room down stairs. The bar was jammed with a long line!

Incredible tapas! Lovely spot! We enjoyed the atmosphere and the great selection of warm and cold tapas. Definitely recommended

Oh my. Everything we tasted was superb. Simple, simple, simple but extraordinary. Best quality ingredients. Not your typical pinxtos experience as you wait in line and have your own spot. Ideal to get there right before opening time of 7:30 pm.

We came here for a late night snack and found a long queue at the door. We were 4 and 2 of us managed to get stool seats by the counter, the other 2 later. Even at that late hour, the place was packed and lively so the waiters went around asking for the orders as it was not easy to approach the counter. However, Amaia, the soul fo Gandara came around seeing to it that the guests were pleased. We loved the chistorra puff pastry, just had to taste the legendary Gilda pintxo and Amaia herself made the anchovy on tomato montadito as it was requested by our friend.
San Sebastian memories are made of these!
Unfortunate Experience
As a UK citizen I was appalled to see how foreign tourists were treated at the entrance. A Chinese couple in front of us was treated appalling - we were so saddened at the poor treatment of others. We went in anyway but unfortunately the food was a disappointment too. We had such high hopes for this place after reading other reviews but unfortunately this was really worse than the petrol station fare I would usually get when travelling. Who thought an M25 petrol station ploughman’s would beat a restaurant reviewed so highly. Only choose this destination if you want to be sorely disappointed.

This organisation was very openly discriminatory at the entrance. We have all been fully vaccinated and had a booster shot from the UK or the US but the waiter at the entrance pushed anyway anyone that wasn’t Spanish. My sister in law experienced very unpleasant treatment at the entrance. This was very reminiscent of a very discriminatory past that we thought was no longer legal.
