Derfin Stegersbach Reviews from The Last Year
Good and still worth recommending
The thermal spa is basically OK, the sauna area is unfortunately getting on in years, the special infusions should be expanded and should also be included in the entrance fee, as in other thermal spas. And there should also be a sauna bar in the sauna area, this will increase interest and the number of visitors.
Feel-good enjoyment
Our family, aged 3-86, spent a great few days here. Lifeguard Noah was very helpful (helped with wheelchair transfers, took photos, took care of blisters). There was something for EVERYONE! PRAISE to all the staff (service, chef, reception, lifeguard, etc.). EVERYONE was very friendly, competent and helpful!!! We would love to come back.
Anarchy in the paddling pool
Let's take excerpts from the bathing regulations (as of April 1, 2024 on the website) as a benchmark. That should be able to put a stop to subjectivity, even if the software doesn't let me quote any text from the bathing regulations. Smoking prohibited? Yes, but not outside. There are even ashtrays next to the outdoor pools and there is steam next to the water. Not to mention the buffet terrace. Glass in the bathing area? Excepted are dishes with schnitzels, drinking bottles and mineral water bottles - theoretically they could also be made of plastic. But in many cases they aren't. No nuisance due to behavior? Well, that's a subjective feeling, but when I look through the reviews, we weren't the only ones who felt disturbed by young bathers who were shouting uncontrollably, playing ball in the thermal baths, etc. Eating in the bathing area? Full picnic bags are common. Jumping from the edge of the pool? People jump from everywhere and all the time. Anyone who is in the water at the edge of the pool quickly becomes someone else's landing spot. Reckless swimming, use of sports equipment? Are balls sports equipment? People play recklessly all the time. Swimming quietly is practically impossible. Control by staff? Except during "wave operation", the lifeguards are well hidden in their room. Of course it is quieter there. I would like to point out that we were there with a 10-year-old and a 13-year-old, who naturally do not meet the requirements of a "whisper spa": We were therefore not in that area. The constant filming and photography is also a major disturbance. Strange children (and not only children) should not be photographed: This is a massive violation of personal rights! And where is the staff who, according to the bathing regulations, should put a stop to this activity? On March 27th and 28th, it was hardly visible. When I pointed out to a gentleman that it was his job to keep order, he dismissed it with "But go on, we have to have a bit of fun."
horror
So I don't even know where to start. The day in this thermal spa will probably remain negative in my memory for a very long time. I have to say that I have been to the Stegersbach thermal spa very often over the last 15 years when it was still run by Reiters The thermal baths were also quite nice or it was a nice thermal bath. But yesterday it was completely different. I suspect it may/will be because the thermal baths have now been taken over by the state of Burgenland and the first red savings pen has already been set. I justify this by saying that there were hardly any loungers available as the thermal baths were completely full, which was probably because it was the Easter holidays. That's all well and good, but I don't think it's entirely okay to say this only after you've paid the horrendous entrance fee There are no more loungers in the thermal area and since the weather wasn't exactly summery, we couldn't go outside. But unfortunately that wasn't the only negative thing about that day. I think charging an entrance fee of €80 for a 13 year old child and two adults is relatively steep, as the prices have been raised steeply again for what feels like the fifth time in a year. Furthermore, it must be noted that this thermal spa is no longer a thermal spa but only offers the flair of a better indoor swimming pool. Children and adults jump from the edge of the pool into the pool, not using the entrances, but a lifeguard who could change this tries to find there in vain. Furthermore, ball games are played in all pools, including in the outdoor relaxation pool, water polo, snorkeling, diving and even swimming with air mattresses and similar things in the indoor pool. Here, too, you won't find a lifeguard - they obviously hide quite well. You only see the two of them standing around when you activate the wave pool, which is supposed to run waves for 10 minutes. However, this is only operated for 5 minutes and then you look for the waves in vain. Furthermore, there is a torrent that used to be wild, now it is just a mild mountain stream and you will also look in vain for underwater pool lighting indoors, which is available but is no longer switched on for I suspect cost-related reasons, which I think is a shame because I Yes, after all, if I pay the full entrance fee, I also expect that there will be no savings on electricity costs for the underwater pool lighting, the wild water stream or the wave pool. Towards the evening the thermal spa became a little emptier due to the peace and quiet and chilled thermal atmosphere but there was no mention and no trace - on the contrary - the remaining 200 to 300 guests... continued to jump obediently from the edge of the pool into the pool and splash and hoot around as if it were an indoor swimming pool and there was no lifeguard in sight who could punish this because there are other paying guests here who perhaps don't want to constantly get water in the face or a ball thrown at the head. I can just say I was horrified and I will continue to avoid this thermal spa in the future and move to another thermal spa where there is still a thermal spa feeling for this money, but this is no longer possible in the Stegersbach thermal spa...unfortunately
Great thermal spa for families with kids
Great thermal spa for families with children. Great value for money and the food in the restaurant is also affordable... Thank you! Please keep it up 😀🥂
It used to be nice...
After so many years of loyalty, only disappointments! Everything is slowly but surely going downhill. Outdoor pool massage jets have been out of service for months. In the sauna area there are saunas for which you have to buy an extra voucher for 4 euros per person, a relaxation area is closed and can only be used for an extra charge of 14.40 euros. Especially the one that can be reached on foot from the sauna area. Normal guests have to go all the way down, stairs or elevator, great. In the lower relaxation area there are loungers next to loungers, no space between them. You have to crawl onto the lounger from the front. Two out of three infrared chairs were broken. One of the three cabins didn't even open. We enjoyed coming here. But all the additional costs that are then added on in the sauna area are not mentioned anywhere outside. You can be glad that there is no extra euro lift fee to get to the lower relaxation room. Eibe Sauna was completely closed. They try to get the most out of it with the minimum effort. It's a shame, it used to be really nice here. But it's not worth 250 kilometers anymore. The PuchersPlus saved us, great room, great breakfast. But that's not what we came for. The thermal baths should close for 4 weeks, renovate and refurbish and get rid of the stupid extra costs after entry. It's just annoying.
Water temperature too low
Unfortunately, the water temperature was not warm enough to be comfortable. Even the children's pool was cold.
