[Daisies] Restaurant focused on pastas and vegetables, located in Logan Square. Chicago Restaurant Week Edition. This restaurant is hands down one of the top 3 restaurants I have ever experienced. The restaurant was packed when we arrived for our reservation, yet still was able to be seated relatively quickly. We elected for the 4-course RW menu, which was so worth it. One of the best drinks I have gotten to start: Physician's Friend First Course: - Potted Carrots (almost like a carrot butter spread with these puffed bread) - Shaved Brussel sprouts Second Course: - Mushroom Ragu Pappardelle - Lamb Sugo Stracci (Optional) Third Course: - Rainbow Trout - Beef Tongue Dessert: - Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie - Gooey Butter Cake - Warm Chocolate Bread Pudding - Raspberry Pretzel Pie One of the best restaurant experiences I have had. The service is insane. Each course had its individual plates and utensils. The waiter explained each dish and cleared the table per course. The food quality was off the charts, super high quality. My favorite was surprisingly the Mushroom Ragu Pappardelle, considering my strict meat diet. There cannot be enough words to describe how impressed I am with this restaurant. 12/10 https://www.daisieschicago.com 2375 N Milwaukee Ave Chicago, IL 60647

The beet pasta was like nothing I've ever tasted, so subtle, yet so addicting I can't wait to go back

I usually determine what my favorite restaurants are by asking myself, "How badly do I want to come back here?" And after dining at Daisies for the first time I realized that I needed to come back here as soon as possible. I came here once with my family and I liked it so much that I came back a few weeks later with my girlfriend. And she liked is so much that she wants to come back here sooner than later. The food here haunts both of our dreams. Daisies is one of the hottest spots in the city right now. It was named restaurant of the year by the Eater Chicago and food critic Michael Nagrant. They also got the nod from Michelin in the form of a bib gourmand. So suffice it to say, this place is fantastic. Daisies offers what I believe to be New American cuisine with a strong focus on fresh vegetables. This isn't a vegetarian restaurant but there are plenty of vegetarian options on the menu. While they do offer entrees featuring chicken, pork Milanese, and what's supposed to be a fantastic rainbow trout (I haven't had it yet), their selection of pastas are the star of the show and the main draw of this spot. They also have one of the best appetizer menus I've seen. I was lucky enough to try a bunch of dishes during my two visits here. I have eaten the chips and dip, the fritto misto, the potted carrots, the simple green salad, the parpedelle with mushroom ragu, rigatoni, the pierogis with mussels, black truffle ricotta ravioli, the beet agnolotti, tajarin with black truffle, the dreamsicle panna cotta, the apple parsnip cake, the warm graham cracker crostata, the sour cherry kolackzi, the gooey butter cake, the raspberry pretzel pie, and a cappuccino. As far as appetizers go, you can't wrong with the house made ruffles and onion dip. The simple green salad is solid and the portion is generous. The potted carrots were one of the more interesting apps I've had. There's a lot going on flavor wise and is a very Instagram worthy dish (if that's your sort of thing). But the best app they have is the frito misto. Cheese curds with mushrooms and artichokes that are lightly battered with a tempura like texture that's complimented by a fantastic tarragon aioli. This is a must order. The pastas are incredible here. All of the ones that I preciously mentioned are absolutely delicious and you can't wrong with any of them. Although, I do gotta say my least favorite was the tajarin. I'm honestly just not big on tajarin, in general. I saw that they recently took it off the menu. From what I can tell, it seems like everyone's favorite is the beet agnolotti. It has an earthy taste and is topped with crรจme fraiche and trout roe! It's also completely red and is another Instagram worthy dish. In fact, most of the food here is! If you're not that into beets, then maybe I would try something else. But this might be Daisies signature dish and is very much worth trying. And the desserts. My god, the desserts! These are some of the best I have ever had. You really can't go wrong with any of them. You can get a dessert for $13.00, scoops of gelato for $6.00, or these small treats for $4.00 each. There are about 7 different treats and I am honestly considering going back and ordering all of them at once. The standouts for me were the panna cotta, the gooey butter cake, and the raspberry pretzel pie. But like I said, you can't go wrong with any of them. They are a must order and you are doing yourself a great disservice by leaving here without trying any of them. Food aside, the actual restaurant itself is spacious with a cool interior and the service is excellent. They have a lunch menu during the day that's followed by a happy hour menu and everything is reasonably priced for a restaurant of this caliber. I am dying to go back for lunch to try their sandwiches and a few of their epic looking pastries. The hype is real and the accolades are well deserved. This is a great spot for any occasion that should be at the top of anyone's "must eat" list.

This place seemed like a great culmination of a food experience. The server, Christie C, was absolutely fantastic. She was able to make us comfortable and walk us through the menu as if she was a friend. She also was fantastic with one of our party members gluten allergy. She was able to break down everything that could be made for her and marked the menu to show it. Now to get to the food. All Of it was incredible. Pasta was perfectly made and you can't go wrong with literally any of them. I highly recommended the French onion dip. It's the best I've ever had. Definitely will be returning. Thank you for a great night! Big props to Christie C!
Be the first to ReplyI first learned about daisies on instagram in 2020.
I've been a close follower since then and was finally able to make the treck from Texas. It was SO worth it. Daisies exceeded my expectations, and I had high expectations to start with. The service was impeccable, the food was unbelievable (we tried 7 things, and there was not a single flaw with any of them), and the space was gorgeous. I will be coming back, even if that means making a trip to Chicago just for this amazing restaurant.

Was excited to try this restaurant after reading many reviews. The chips and onion dip and the beet manhattan were highlights. The rigatoni was far too acidic (lemon and fermented tomatoes) and paring that with the rainbow trout which was another very lemon forward acidic dish wasn't a good choice. Their food has some very strong flavors so be very careful when ordering. Our server was exceptional, though didn't steer us towards more complimentary main course flavors. The desserts were exceptional and would definitely recommend. Would return for the chips, drinks, and desserts.
Be the first to ReplyFood was great however not exceptional.
What docked a star was the restaurant's policy on standard 25% tip--which would've been palatable if service was spectacular, but it's not. It's clearly a popular/busy spot and we came on a Wednesday evening. Service was rushed, and servers weren't enthusiastic or attentive. Different servers/bussers served our dishes. It just wasn't attentive or a personalized experience and definitely did not warrant a 25% tip. I've had so many better service experiences.

The chicken parm sandwich is delicious, but the service was pretty rough. When going to pick up an order, you have to stand in the same line as people who are placing orders and still looking at the menu. When I finally got up to the counter, the cashier decided to make a latte instead of handing me the bag that was waiting for me right behind her. Maybe they should have two lines or one designated cashier that doesn't have to double as a barista? Either way, the frustration has outweighed the benefit of the food. It's a real shame, I loved that sandwich.

The diverse menu gave us the opportunity to share different menu items and everything was delicious.

Wow. The pasta here is phenomenal. Every dish is cooked to Al dente perfection. The stracci and ravioli are out of this world. The complex flavors working together to give the pasta a unique flavor profile that I've never tasted before. The lamb for the stracci was tender and the herbs used for the sauce were so flavorful and not overpowering. Service was efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. The food came out at a good pace and the portions were a good size. I was stuffed after the meal. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Chicago for pasta. They automatically add a 25% service charge for the bill and if you make reservations, you'll have to pay a $10 deposit per person. Give Daisies a try.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing! A Michelin-starred restaurant or should be.
They are so innovative and tasty. Highly recommend Daisies (what's not to like about a restaurant called Daisies?)

Be the first to ReplyA popular neighborhood bistro that has garnered a "Bib
A popular neighborhood bistro that has garnered a "Bib Gourmand" designation from the Michelin Guide for its limited but heavy-hitting New American menu of hand-made pastas and other odds and ends. The first thing I noticed when we arrive for lunch was that the staff was super nice, and there was a lot of warm welcomes and hellos exchanged as we made our way to table on the cozy enclosed patio. The place is tiny, so would recommend making a reservation ahead of time. Maybe my brain was still woozy from a late night out on the town, but I found the virtual menu app through which everyone collectively orders a little confusing and weird. We figured it out eventually though.Brunch as an institution strikes me as boring and overpriced, but this was neither. I was bummed that none of their pastas were available earlier in the day because they looked phenomenal. The menu is playfully divided into stuff "On Bread", "Between Bread" (i.e., sandwiches), and sides. The Potato Salad was excellent and surprisingly complex, with herbaceous, tangy, and zesty elements. The Truffle Egg Bruschetta involved custardy ricotta-infused scrambled eggs overlying the crispest toast imaginable: a delightful textural contrast. The generously stuffed Smoked Whitefish Sandwich was really, really delicious with crunchy frisรฉe, salty roe, and a punchy dressing. Alas, I ended up dropping a star for the Chicken Parm, which was sadly the final thing I consumed as part of an otherwise lovely meal. The meat was a little dry and not especially flavorful, plus the kale and citrus felt out of place.Outside of some minor nitpicks, Daisies lived up to its billing and delivered a memorable lunchtime spread. Will plan to make a pitstop next time I'm in town to sample some of their Italian fare.

They offered us some delicious and free kombucha
Be the first to ReplyI never leave reviews but felt compelled to after how I am
I never leave reviews but felt compelled to after how I am being treated by this restaurant. The waitress I had on Saturday evening was horrible. She was rude and forced us to give our orders within five minutes of sitting down. I said we weren't in rush and wanted to look over the menu. She was incredibly rude after that. Making comments all evening about being rushed. The food also was poor quality compared to 2019. Not worth being treated the way I did to go back. This is typical of Logan square I am finding. So rude to customers. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere for Italian in Chicago.

Every dish we had tasted great! We tried the rutabaga latka, beet agnlootti, and gnocchi and would recommend all of them. The pretzel cheesecake was also delicious. I didn't realize that the crust was pretzels, but it was very well balanced. We are not vegetarians, but did not miss the meat.

Finally made it to Daisies, and it did not disappoint! It has a cute, laid back ambiance with really friendly staff. My husband and I started with cocktails and we both loved ours - I got the petals at play which was light and floral and my husband got the physicians friend (which he liked so much that he got a second). We started with the onion dip and the carrot rillette for some lighter finger food options. The onion dip was pretty standard but very tasty (and the homemade chips were superb). The carrot rillette was also good and quite interesting, I just wish there was a a higher creme fraiche to carrot ratio. For the pastas, we shared the papardelle (mushroom ragu) and the stracchi (lamb sugo) and we loved them both! I wished they had some sort of meat centric option (a la chicken parm or something similar) to share and pair with the pastas, but no such luck. Apparently they're reopening in a bigger space soon, so hopefully the menu expands to even more delicious options. Can't wait to check it out in the next couple of months!
Be the first to ReplyIf you're looking for a cozy and delicious spot in Chicago,
If you're looking for a cozy and delicious spot in Chicago, Daisies should definitely be on your list. This charming eatery offers a variety of pasta dishes that are made fresh in-house, and it's easy to see why it's a favorite among locals. The mushroom pasta is a standout dish that's not to be missed. The pasta is cooked perfectly al dente and the mushroom sauce is rich and flavorful, with just the right amount of garlic and parmesan cheese. The dish is both filling and satisfying.Another dish that we tried was the chicken pasta with ramen style noodles. The noodles were cooked perfectly and the chicken was juicy and tender. The dish had a nice blend of flavors, including a hint of spice and some fresh herbs. Overall, it was an amazing dish that left us wanting more. One unexpected surprise was the sunchokes, which tasted like potatoes but had a slightly nutty flavor. They were cooked to perfection and were a great side dish to share. We highly recommend trying them if you're looking for a unique and delicious vegetable. The atmosphere of the restaurant was welcoming and friendly, with a rustic decor that added to the charm of the dining experience. The service was attentive and helpful, and the menu offered a good selection of wines and beers to complement the dishes.Overall, we would definitely recommend Daisies for anyone looking for a delicious meal in a cozy setting. The mushroom pasta, chicken pasta with ramen noodles, and sunchokes are all standout dishes that are not to be missed. Leah was a great guide throughout this gastronomic experience.
Be the first to ReplyThe pasta was good and the place was cute.
A bit overpriced and loaded with service fees and whatnot on top of the food already being expensive.

Came here for restaurant week! For $42, we got a three course meal with a lot of variety. We considered the 4 course ($59) but decided against because we weren't too hungry. Happy that we stuck with the three course because we were so full afterwards. The black truffle ravioli was excellent (my partner ordered) and my straccci was incredible (not pictured because i was in a hurry to try it). The dessert was the perfect ending. The pretzel crust was something I had never tried before. The panna cotta was so smooth. My least favorite was probably the carrot rillette. I wish there was more of the creme fraiche and less of the carrot. Most outstanding was the service. Our server was very kind and we could tell she knew the menu items inside out.
