Apron Wien Reviews from The Last Year
A wow experience!
We made reservations at Apron restaurant in Vienna, and it turned into an unforgettable culinary adventure. From the moment we stepped in, the service was impeccable, setting the stage for an extraordinary dining experience. Opting for the 5-course meal was a delight, but the surprises didn’t stop there. The chef sent out an array of exquisite appetizers and palate cleansers between courses, each one a masterpiece in its own right. Despite the exceptional quality, the prices remained reasonable, making it clear why Apron proudly holds its Michelin star. This wasn’t just a meal; it was a journey through flavors and textures that left us in awe.
Food not special at all, too expensive and very bad treatment by the waitress
My girlfriend brought me here for my birthday. The food was not bad, but not enough for 1 star Michelin. We have been in 8 Michelin Star Restaurant, and about the dishes this has been the worse abosultely. Some dishes were "ok", but when you go to a Michelin Star Restaurant, "ok" is not enough. The taste of the 90% of the dishes was abosultely normal, nothing special, there Is not a real reaserch about ingredients and how the stay good togheter into the dish. But the worse thing about this evening, (a special evening that has been ruined) was the way acted the girl wo entroduced us to the restaurant (the girl with curly hairy and glasses). At the beginning of the dinner She came to us with some different bottles and She said "can I OFFER you a drink to start the dinner?" We said ok, but at the end of the dinner, when we had to pay, she asked 33 euro more for the 2 drinks. When we told her that She said "OFFER", She became very unfriendly and answer "you could Say no". But there was abosultely no place on the menù were you could find the price, and She said "offer". Anything that has a cost in a restaurant has to be on the menù, that's a simple but important rule. But also, when She realized that was a mistake, She didn't care at all. No emapty, no attention to the client. We were already paying 340 euro for the dinner (really too much for the quality), and She could Say "ok, I haven't bene clear, I take off the bill", but She didn't care at all, and She said "enjoy Vienna" asking for the money also for the drinks. Never happened in my Life something like this, she didn't care at all about us. She Is not a professionist, abosultely, and makes bad advertisment to the restaurant and to Vienna. Birthday ruined, anda vary bad experience.
A ruined birthday
I have been to several starred restaurants, and this is definitely the one that disappointed me the most, in terms of the food, but above all the service, which literally shocked me. My partner and I opted for the 5-course menu and we were happy because, for the first time in a starred restaurant, we had the opportunity to choose the dishes we wanted, without necessarily taking the same ones. The problem is that, despite having taken 5 different dishes each, none of these were up to a Michelin star: they were all beautiful, but absolutely mediocre in taste (apart from a few exceptions, such as the butter candle, the venison and one of the two desserts). During dinner, we were so disappointed, we even thought about getting up and leaving, paying only for what we had consumed. However, we decided to stay, so as not to be rude and not ruin our evening. However, they ruined the evening for us anyway: at the beginning of the meal, a girl with glasses and curly hair came to us with a big smile and, I swear, asked us if she could OFFER us a welcome drink. We accepted, despite not having that much desire and despite not being big drinkers, only to find ourselves with the two drinks on our bill at the modest cost of 33 euros. We actually spoke to the girl with curly hair and glasses, telling her kindly that she had told us that those drinks had been offered to us, but she denied it in a very rude manner and made us pay for them anyway, despite the account was already more than 320 euros. I have no problem paying for what I consumed, of course, but if we are told that that thing will be OFFERED to us I don't expect to see it on the bill. Terrible treatment, which ruined the evening for me and my partner, considering that it was also his birthday and that it was my gift to him.
Review of Apron experience in Vienna
Fantastic food . Excellent service . Informed staff and knowledgeable about the food and wine. The little cards that explained the course selections was an excellent addition . I have never had this before. The cost was more than we expected and the charge for the water was excessive . However all the little additional courses were appreciated. A great experience and a special thanks for the attention shown , as this was a Birthday celebration . Thank you .
Simply amazing!
This place had amazing food, staff and ambiance. If you are planning a trip to Vienna make sure to make a reservation at this place, you will not be disappointed!

We searched and made a reservation here before our trip to Wien. Luckily our choice was a bingo. Even though the restaurant did not openly suggested their foods took the high end Japanese cuisine style, they are obviously in the Influence of Japanese Kaiseki ryori. I experienced many Kaiseki style menus in western restaurants and this restaurant was the best in my personal experiences, even surpasses the original Kaiseki with subtle flavors, creative experiments, which often ends up to failure. They created new great tastes, which the original Japanese Kaiseki does not have. Alex, the restaurant manager, was kind with welcoming hospitality, which was impressive, too.
Incredible!
An amazing experience! A very pleasant balance between new flavor experiences and just simple delicious food. Not to overwhelming but incredibly tasty!
An incredible Journey
It was an incredible evening with you. Everything - right from the start - was simply incredible. From the different flavours to the presentation. We are still in seventh heaven. Many thanks for this incredible evening to the whole team, you have enchanted us. See you again soon, best regards.
Came here a few weeks ago and really enjoyed our experience.
The food was amazing, nice ambiance and very attentive staff. Highly recommend!
A birthday celebration to remember at Apron, Vienna
Celebrating my birthday at Apron in Vienna was an unforgettable experience, thanks to the seamless blend of exquisite culinary artistry and intimate, welcoming service. The dishes were masterpieces of flavor and presentation, showcasing innovative interpretations of classic cuisine with the finest ingredients. Despite the January chill, the atmosphere inside Apron was warm and inviting, creating a cozy backdrop for a special celebration. The staff went above and beyond to make the birthday memorable, adding personal touches that truly made the evening shine. Apron stands out as a must-visit for anyone looking to mark a special occasion or simply indulge in an exceptional dining experience in Vienna.
Outstanding dining experience
We visited on a Saturday in March for dinner and ordered the 5 course menu without accompanying wines. Together with several amuse-gueule it was almost a 9 course meal. The whole experience was amazing in terms of food presentation and preparation. Also the ambiance and the service was outstanding. We both enjoyed the experience very much and agreed that this was one of the few „dinners of a lifetime“. We strongly recommend to eat here. It is definitely not cheap but the price is absolutely justified by the quality of the restaurant.
A lacklustre experience
I would love to give restaurant Apron a five star review, but sadly we found the food generally rather lacklustre and a little tasteless. The restaurant also lacks intimacy. The whole experience left us feeling rather cold. That is sad indeed because we could see the incredible amount of work and skill that had gone into crafting these dishes. It was a case of all the right ingredients, but a rather incoherent rendering. There were however,a couple of notable highlights: Bouillabaisse gel (delicious); the sea urchin beurre blanc (mouthwatering); and, veal tenderloin (well cooked). The staff were friendly enouugh and the cards explaining each dish were a helpful additon. Perhaps, if they focussed mor on the main dishes rather than the numerous intermezzo, they would have more success. I was suprised at the Michelin star; it really didn't compare favourably with previous experiences.
FAB - No words needed👌
Absoulutly the best restaurent experience I have ever had. FAB food out of this World, and the best service by the staff. So professionel and with such a big knowledge about all the food and wine. Really a perfect evening
Lovely evening.
Great service and atmosphere - they were brilliant when we ran late for our reservation. We loved the choice of aperitifs (I recommend the Bramble infused gin), and that we got to choose our courses (we had 5 and covered the whole menu between the two of us). All were lovely - we particularly liked the halibut, cauliflower, duck and veal. Lots of lovely little extras/amuse bouches. Only 1 star off because the wine pairing was pricey for such tiny serves. But otherwise a flawless experience and we loved it all.
EVERTHING WAS AMAZING
Fantastic night! Everything was amazing, the food, the service, the facilities. Thank you very much for hosting such lovely night!🍾🎉
One of the most creative cuisines in Vienna
A truly wonderful evening. The service was excellent, very professional but also very personal and nice. We had to bring our dog and it was not a problem (which is not always teh case in restaurants of this catgory). The food was extraordinary, each course a firework of different tastes perfectly put together. Onla the wine pairing was sometimes a little bit too "experimental" for my taste;-) To sum it up: go there and enjoy!
